CHANGE LOG
-----
02.14.2015 - I've gone ahead and updated the original post, so plan information is now available and accurate.
02.09.2015 - since I basically forgot that this thread even existed, most of what's on here is outdated. For starters, we now have three Starter Plan packages, Jester's and a recently launched King's Plan. Everything is faster, and there's also a PHP Selector/Editor available on all accounts. I'd suggest to check us out on Twitter for all of the latest DoRoyal happenings.
12.29.2013 - updated plan information to better reflect current plan and rates.
10.21.2013 - updated pricing, and removed inactive coupons.
8.10.2013 - updated the branding to DoRoyal.
5.26.2013 - due to the inner demons within Ty's mind, we've decided to create three extremely awesome and totally exclusive discounts for Facepunch users.
5.3.2013 - updated the formatting of the original post, and modified plan information to reflect the most up to date settings. Also removed a large part of the service description, and replaced it with a simplified one.
We've also introduced an entirely new website hosting package to our services; the Starter Plan.
http://www.deroyalservers.com/
ps. all posts and replies on this thread are outdated, and shouldn't be considered accurate with the current platform. (both the negative and positive replies are, quite simply, outdated, and no longer accurate)
All replies after this are new and updated.
Vouch! Great support and prices! :)
How much would you charge for Domain transfer? it'd be 2 domains.
How much would you charge for Domain transfer? it'd be 2 domains.
Domain transfers are the same as domain registrations, which is $10.95 USD / year.
However, because the service is still rather small, I've limited all TLDs to .COM. I plan to introduce other TLDs in the near future, but honestly, domain registrations and management isn't my main priority.
Seems like you have made a nice hosting company here I think. Well, good luck to your company.
How do you transfer domains? Are you your own domain registrar?
How do you transfer domains? Are you your own domain registrar?
I'm a domain name reseller.
Selling domain names isn't actually that hard to do, and requires nothing more than an account with ResellerClub or eNom. (although other resellers do exist, I find that these two offer the best services at the lowest wholesale prices)
That being said, domain names aren't my main focus. They're really just there to fill in the blanks.
If you already own a domain name, all you really have to do is switch your nameservers over to the ones we use, rather than transferring the entire domain itself.
Uhm... I'm not sure if this is suppose to happen?

Yeah, that isn't supposed to happen, haha.
Did you enter any kind of coupon code?

Check your PM's.

Thanks, and as said in my message, the problem has been fixed. :)
There really needs to be some more information on your website about what you're actually providing aside from webspace and bandwidth. E.g Are mysql databases limited? What mysql/php version (and notable modules enabled?)?
There really needs to be some more information on your website about what you're actually providing aside from webspace and bandwidth. E.g Are mysql databases limited? What mysql/php version (and notable modules enabled?)?
The current website is truly just your most basic WHMCS template. I'm working on a new template now, and should have it online before November.
PHP is version 5.2.17, and MySQL is version 5.5.23-55. MySQL is currently limited to 10 databases per account. (will change that to unlimited later on for all clients)
There are also 5 email account allowed, but unlimited addon domains, FTP accounts, parked domains and subdomains.
Please remember that the site and all services are still being developed.
PHP is version 5.2.17
please nobody use this host until he upgrades to 5.4
Whilst the website may be under development, it doesn't take that much time or effort to provide a full list of details as to what your clients are actually recieving. There are many well-established companies out there that you will have to compete with, so this really should be a priority.
There's a typo in the dutch translation, in the navigation there is 'Neem contact op ment ons' this has to be 'Neem contact op met ons'
please nobody use this host until he upgrades to 5.4
Plus is this old PHP version the only available server side scripting language? Is MySQL the only available DBMS? The website is very thin on information.
First of all, I greatly apologize for not writing a reply sooner. Honestly forgot that I even created this thread.
A lot has happened in the last few months, including a new website design, the introduction of 'unlimited' hosting services, new and more powerful server hardware and a new datacenter.
We will also be introducing game server hosting at our Kansas location this Spring.
please nobody use this host until he upgrades to 5.4
PHP 5.4 is still relatively new, and most of the scripts and programs available do not require 5.4 to operate.
The main reason for not supporting the newest version of PHP was to maximize script compatibility. Most older scripts, and even some current scripts and services do not function properly on 5.4.x.
You may be happy to know that we have recently upgraded to support PHP 5.3 by default, and plan to offer a side-by-side service of 5.3 and 5.4. This is similar to what HostGator does with their services.
PHP 5.4 will be introduced in a couple of weeks. No exact ETA as of now, unfortunately. (I'll post back when it's available)
Plus is this old PHP version the only available server side scripting language? Is MySQL the only available DBMS? The website is very thin on information.
PHP is simply the most common language, but we provide support for most major languages, including Ruby, Perl and Python. If a certain language is not supported, notify our support agents. Chances are, we'll add support for it within the week. (assuming, of course, it isn't outdated or has major security flaws)
We only support RDBMS services at this time, so MySQL is the only option. If you'd like to request that we support different database engines, you may do so by sending your suggestions to our support agents.
Thank you all for asking such wonderful questions, and I greatly apologize for not replying until today.
If you have any further questions, please be sure to ask them. I'm going to apply a deeper focus on this thread from now on, and will try to reply to every question asked.
-Ty H.
Nice to see you guys are still in business.
Nice to see you guys are still in business.
Hey, we're glad to still be in business, too. :)
I still can't believe that this thread was created half a year ago. Boy times sure have changed. Back then, we were just your basic WHMCS template, offering services with a 2 GB limit.
Also, I've just updated the original post with more details. Hopefully the formatting will be (somewhat) readable this time. Haha.
Could you send me your e-mail address? I'd like to ask you about something.
You can contact us by filling out this form - http://www.deroyalservers.com/contact.php
You could also send a direct email to support (at) deroyalservers.com, or send me a private message here on FacePunch.
Just wanted to let everyone know that we're performing some updates on our dedicated servers today. Although no downtime is expected, services may run slower than usual for a while. (if downtime does occur, we'll offer a free month of hosting to all of our affected customers)
This update is basically a security patch, which should help prevent certain security problems that may take place in the future.
We are also having some problems with our DNS servers. We have a guy looking into it now, and will post back once everything is up and running.
Cheers;
-Ty H.
Yesterdays update did not go as planned, and we suffered from an unusually long downtime.
Since most of our new clients are coming from these boards, I thought it would be wise to keep you all updated on the changes we have and will soon be making to our servers.
First, we've resolved the DNS issues mentioned in a previous update. Domain name propagation is still expected to take longer than usual, but it will propagate across the internet without failure.
Second, we've replaced Fantastico with Softaculous. Softaculous simply contains more scripts, and a far cleaner interface. This can be accessed from your cPanel control panel.
Third, we've received a request from one of our valued customers to install and configure PDO, or PHP Data Objects. Unfortunately, doing so resulted in an unexpected crash of our main web hosting server.
The server has since been restored to full functionality, and PDO is scheduled for complete install later in the day.
Please be aware that, during the installation of PDO, we will place our main storefront into maintenance mode. This is to prevent new accounts from being created, which may prevent PDO from installing properly.
Additionally, the web hosting server may experience certain technical glitches during PDO's installation. It's unlikely to be taken offline again, but we cannot guarantee that it will remain up and running during this process. We apologize in advanced for any interruption of service.
If you have any questions about our website hosting platform, please be sure to leave a reply.
Ty H.
PDO has been successfully installed, and is now functional across all of our hosted websites and domains.
We also provide free Shell access on all hosting accounts. (some limitations do apply. Contact support to get shell enabled, if it isn't enabled already)
If you have any questions, please be sure to reply back to this thread. Also, it's strongly encouraged for all of our clients that were referred through Facepunch to kindly provide your honest feedback on this thread.
Oh, and don't forget to 'rate' the original post as well. The 'Agree' function would help a lot. :)
Ty H.
(ps. Shell/SSH access has always been available with our platform, and requires no additional monthly fee to use)
Just switched from Lithium hosting to DRS. I must say that the support is way better and quicker. It's definitely worth the $5/month. I would most undoubtedly recommend these services to others.

Thanks for the kind words, FrankPetrov! We're glad to have you on board. :)
-Ty H.
We're performing some minor maintenance tonight. Nothing major, just a few tweaks here and there to help improve the stability of our servers.
We're also looking to start up some public support forums, as well as to introduce a few lightweight reseller packages.
Question: What do you look for when choosing a new website hosting provider?
What's most important to you, and what ultimately convinces you that this specific provider is worth renting from?
-Ty H.
We're working on a way to provide public server stats and information, such as uptime, performance and PHP version info.
Currently, we have private statistics enabled for our administrators and staff members, and so far, these stats show a 100% network uptime, average CPU usage of 0.09%, average RAM usage of 1.34% and a total of 0.83% disk space used.

Please remember that the coupon code 'iPunch' is a limited time offer. To take advantage of the 90% monthly discount, you must sign up before April 15th.
We'll offer up another discount exclusive for Facepunch after iPunch has expired. This new coupon will provide a 50% off discount, and will only apply towards the first month of hosting.
-Ty H.

Good location (In my case, I would be interested in Europe).
No speed limits
Space limits are a nice thing not to worry about, even though you don't use it.
Cheap & Good support
