I'm in the middle of making a platform fighter called Beatup, Beatdown, and I need ideas for characters.
All used character ideas will be credited if you would like that.
Need more info.
What's the theme of the game? What characters do you already have? What (generally) do the stages look like?

The game follows no apparent theme, but it is a humour oriented game, and the stages in general are regular backgrounds with a floor and a platform in each corner & the middle.
Characters:
Logan Morpheus (Guest Character): A fighter who travels far and wide to prove himself.
Speedster: A superhero-type character with super-speed.
Mr. Crisp: A suave and cunning secret agent stereotype.
Jaguar Cop: Classic action hero cop with a playable Jaguar.
Autobot 3000: A sentient robot stereotype.
I'll see what I can come up with, doesn't sound like a bad game.
I have no idea how much you have thought about the characters you already have, but if you haven't already, try to think more about the character's backgrounds and personality. A great mark of a fighting game is lovable characters with unique personality. For example, look at Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3; no two characters are the same, they slightly exaggerate their styles, and have movesets and lines that reflect that.
Just my 2¢, hope the game turns out well.
Thanks!

Hah! Sadly, I think I don't have enough money to bribe them.
Seadog: A large, beefy pirate or fisherman character with a large beard and peg-leg. He wields a large trout or anchor as a weapon and has the typical loud fisherman laugh (anyone who's played the original Jak and Daxter knows what I'm talking about)
Lady Saffron: A swift, red-headed mute who travels the land with the blade of her husband's killer seeking revenge. She kills on eye-contact and trusts no one, all while struggling with her loss internally.
Scrappy: A short lizard-like character who grew up in the back alleys of his home planet. He is a black market dealer with an eye for dangerous weapons and making suckers out of commoners when he's not pick-pocketing. He wears a hood to conceal his identity and somehow hides a bazooka in his back pocket when things get rough.
I'm not at all a character designer but I thought that this would be a fun exercise on my break from homework. Let me know what you think.

He abides by every cliched edgy character trope.

What about:
Dr. William
- Studied medicine and physics
- Is known for dark and weird behavior
- Many of his patients are fitted with cyber-implants.
- He himself has implant in brains for memory and internet access. Can hack stuff on fly around him (WiFi)
- Is not somebody to fuck with, he is dark for a reason - never had a good friendship or been in love because he is simply too smart for us peasants

Seadog is excellent! He almost has to get used! Thanks for that.
Saffron is alright, I think the character needs some tweaking though.
Scrappy is great as well, although Mr. Crisp already has a concealed Bazooka, so I'd go for a Cable style mega laser.

I've made a guy like that since then, he's a ninja with a motorcycle helmet, but it would be helpful if I could use the name?

I like your idea, especially with the cybernetics. But I think I'd have to exchange dark for Medic-style crazy, given the rest of the game.

The tumblrina
Initially xe is quite weak, since the other character's cis privilege puts them at an advantage. But if xe blocks enough moves, it will build up agro and xer special ability, affirmative action and co-ed bathrooms, will make xer OP. The trick to defeating xer is to not let xer block/dodge your moves

I like the idea, but it seems a bit gimmicky. Look at any fighting game and you'll see most of the characters, no matter what the playstyle, follow a basic template. And, as another reason, the game has a very simple layout. Left, Right, Jump, Punch, Kick/Other function. And maybe start. The ideas are a bit too complex. And remember, it's still a platform fighter. So it gets treated more as a party game than a fighting game.
Got you covered man.
Isn't that just Shadow the Hedgehog?
No. It's an original character named Coldsteel the Hedgeheg. Can't you read?
Google [Your name] + "the hedgehog"

I'm sorry, but this just sounds and looks like a crappy Sonic OC you made that's meant to be provocative.

I... don't think that was a joke.

Great, should we get SEGA's blast processing in on this too?

Okay, that's my daily stupid internet done.
Also, would anyone know anywhere to get guest fighters?

It would be nice to see some progress on your work like screenshots or whatnot.

I'm hoping to get some footage on my YouTube channel soon.

As in getting rights to popular third-party characters? What you asked is pretty vague.

Some screenshots of art would suffice.

Yeah, third party characters. The only guest I've got is first party.
