Hey there, I'm running a fairly decent sized company where we sell a very specific product, just a single type of product that comes in many different variations. The only variation there is is size, which is given by the visitor on the site, to whom the site calculates a price. This is some extremely easy math. We sell the product, and also deliver it. For this we have our own webshop, with custom backend. However, this is build up from the ground, in say 2006. Still hacked together to function in this day and age with digital ducktape. It's a disaster, but a somewhat functional one. What do I need, I'm looking for someone who's experienced somewhat with ecommerce, the technical side! Not anything related to promoting the site, making it rank better ect. That's nothing to worry about. If you know your way around web development, and have the work to prove it then please contact me. The work is about creating a new front-end (not design wise) and a new backend. All in all a completely new website. Was thinking about Magento as base due to the flexibility. Thanks!
What's the pay?
You might want to tell people what the language they'll be coding in is.
Pay is still up for discussion. Well magento is mostly php, sql [editline]20th December 2015[/editline] Maybe I explained it wrong, it's mostly about setting it up on an existing platform like magento (no reason to reinvent the wheel) unless you mean to prove me otherwise. And then modify the platform to our wishes. Which in short is something like -Custom products -Custom order overviews -Implementing local payment system (many plug n play systems availible) -Retrieving pfd from mails and attaching them to the proper order. -Some data checking, is x the same as x in there? To find errors in orders. With future wishes like -Hooking up another front-end to the site (exact same products and system, just different prizes -Inplementing a adminitration system -Inplementing/creating a logitics planner for our cars and it's delivery's. Existing site is functioning so you have a 1:1 example of how it should work for the front end.
What ecommerce platform are you using now? Do you have a link to your site that you have?
I'd rather not post the site directly. I'll PM it to you. Current framework is entirely made from scratch.
I worked on a Magento website for two years and I would highly recommend NEVER going with Magento. It's slow. It's way more resource intensive than it should be. It's over engineered where it doesn't need to be and not flexible enough in places where it would actually help. Paying for devs to work on and maintain a Magento website is going to cost you more. if you're only selling a single product I'd really recommend taking a look at a hosted solution like Shopify. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches.
