My $100 credit is running out and I figure there are better deals out there. Any recommendations?
I found these:

But I made this thread in the hopes anyone on Facepunch knew of any obscure ones.
Google has credit and a free tier. https://cloud.google.com/free/
Alibaba Cloud credit and 30/yr ssd server. https://www.alibabacloud.com/
Always worth checking https://lowendbox.com/ periodically, never know when you might find a nice deal. Got this one for $48/year, 40 GB SSD, 4TB bandwidth.

Can also use Amazon's year long free tier which is what ultimately ended up in my spending ~$200 a month on a combo of VPSes and bare metal servers. Not exactly power houses but Amazon lets you have a linux VPS, Windows VPS, and a DB instance for no cost (all 1G instances though IIRC).

But this one is OpenVZ which is horrible and I hate it.
I switched to vultr. Everything they offer is cheaper than DO

Whats wrong with OpenVZ? I've never had a problem with it.
I've been using Hetzner's CX20 for the last several years. It's pretty good but I've heard some rumors that they like to use second-hand home pc hardware instead of proper server hardware.
Also Kimsufi might be a good choice since it's an OVH's sub-brand for low-end servers but they do not provide any support at all IIRC.

That's not true. They only use consumer hardware for their low-end dedicated servers.
https://buyvm.net/kvm-dedicated-server-slices work nice if you are looking for a monthly one. It is only about 42USD a year for the 1GB one. The guy running it is a nice guy and most the staff i have interacted with seems to to nice.
If anyone uses them, you can use my aff https://my.frantech.ca/aff.php?aff=2120 if you want, or not. They also do shared webhosting https://buyshared.net/
They have 3 locations, New York, Las Vegas, and Luxembourg
Bad rep because it performs like shit if someone crams a shit load on one server, the resources aren't allocated as well as KVM because it shares a Linux kernel etc.. however it's a nice cheaper alternative if your host isn't incompetent.
And you can't load kernel modules which means if you want to run a VPN on that VPS you're shit out of luck.

Some let you use a select few.
I switched to vultr. Everything they offer is cheaper than DO
+1 to Vultr, they have a $2.50 a month VPS that is great for a dev box. Piss cheap, but not available in every datacenter right now (out of stock in many.)
Mine is in Miami and it's still good, though.
Another +1 for vultr, when we're talking low-cost boxes at least they're pretty incredible with good performance, KVM, and it's really easy to add more storage too if you need it.
The amount of tutorials is a little limited, and the support do take unmanaged pretty seriously. Though most articles from like the linode library will still apply if you need help doing things.
I'd give an affiliate link to get credit but I think I might be moving to a local company soon so it'd be a waste. Click someone else's. You get free credit when you sign up btw.
Depending on what you want, you could have a look at scaleway. It's pretty cheap.
Depending on what you want, you could have a look at scaleway. It's pretty cheap.
Used them before but be careful, they don't automatically unassign IPs or storage when you destroy an instance
I enjoy using Vultr myself. Like others said it's cheap, and easy to setup.
All the DO tutorials can be used too w/o being subbed, cause it's all public.
I've been following the Linode and DO tutorials for things on my CentOS 7 Vultr box, works fine so far.
Got MySQL and Nginx all set up and properly secured in no more than half an hour.
Hello! I know we are talking about vps, but can someone recommend me a domain than ipage? I got charged with 155$ for essentials hosting services, thing that I don't use since I'm using ipage for .net domain

Do you need hosting services, or just domain services? For domain I use Google Domains. a typical .net domain will cost $15/year

Not for everyone though last I checked they only support like 5 countries atm, but namecheap imo does the trick pretty nice too
What do you mean? You can't register unless you're American? Is it a payment thing? I thought DNS providers don't care what country you're from

I really love Namecheap. Simple to use, great dashboard, and never had any issues.
name.com is pretty good too. You can get free whois privacy with "privacyplease" promo code.
If you're from europe and need something slightly bigger, I can recommend https://contabo.com . I have 2 of their medium sized VPS and never had any problem. Support is fast and I didn't experience performance drops. If you don't mind starting with a barebone setup, the pricing is way cheaper than the larger DO or Vultr droplets.
What are these for? If I remember right, it said cloud storage? I got one of those for free thanks to GitHub, but I didn't understand it so I just kind of left it.

It's a remote virtual server. You can do whatever you want on it including cloud storage.
No-one mentioned Afterburst? Was originally run by a Facepuncher, not sure if it still is.
They've been pretty good in my experience, only criticism is you can't instantly open a VPS like DO.

Can anyone else share their experience with BuyVM? To me it looks the most enticing. For $10/mo I can get DDoS protection ($3/mo) and also 10TB/mo of bandwidth (I asked on IRC what they meant by "unlimited" for the $7/mo tier). Seems pretty unbeatable to me.

There are quite a few good comments on lowendtalk.com
Unihost is quite good, I guess.
My experience so far from the half a year of use (I have one KVM-2 server):
+ Helped with initial file transfer from GoDaddy server.
+ Setup takes literally a couple of minutes.
+ Have a lot of free images of different operating systems, including ones with pre-installed software and installations are instant.
+ Servers are OVH France-based, so it includes their neat DDOS support.
+ Daily backups.
+ Support team responds pretty much instantly and they are always very polite, never had any bad experience with them.
+ There is a free trial for KVM server, I strongly recommend you to take it before buying one.
Some downsides:
- If you'll try to call them on phone, it is a russian roulette, quite literally. At best you will be answered by a guy with a slight russian accent, but at least he will understand you. At worst, there will be a guy with zero English knowledge.
- If you are buying server for a first time ever and using credit card or Paypal, you'll need to verify yourself. It is not a big problem, but if you do this on weekend, or at night, you'll get answer only in work time of their verification department.
- Buggy new client area. God, this thing is really shitty. They say that it will be fixed soon, tho.
You can get a trial VPS here - https://unihost.com/en/vps-ssd/
[sp]Also, contact them via chat and say that you want to verify your project right there, it will help speed things up a bit.[/sp]
