I have a beginner to intermediate level of experience with Lua, Python, C++ and Javascript
I want to pick up Java. So far it has been easy enough to grasp, I think because of similarities to C++.
I don't usually follow regimented lessons, but I was thinking about completing this: https://www.udemy.com/java-the-complete-java-developer-course/
Has anyone got any experience with this particular course? Is it worth doing? Any other suggestions?
I have no proper Java experience but I saw Kotlin gaining influence, maybe you should also look into it?
The course seems like a cheap pick with current discount, I'm guessing it wont hurt if you have the time. Though most of the lessons seem really entry level.
Never had any experience with udemy courses, though I would also suggest checking out what pluralsight has to offer as well.
The problem with Udemy is that if you're already a software developer or have alot of experience with software development theory, some of these courses will get boring (you will lose interest) when the instructor explains beginner programming concepts like what a class is, what are conditionals, what are types, etc.
I knew Java and C# and learned web development solely from udemy courses so it's definitely possible and that is one of the best Java courses on udemy. What I would is that if a video or portion of the course is getting boring or you already understand the concept is to speed up the video/section to 1.25-1.5x speeds (depending on the speed of the lecturer). This will ensure you aren't getting bored and that you're still learning langauge specific nuances.
