[release][tab]Name:[/tab] Chickenstick! [tab]Version:[/tab] 1.1 [tab]Description:[/tab] Fried chicken model (now w/ bumpmap) + background made with it [tab]Requirements:[/tab] None [tab]Download:[/tab] [/release] :v: My very first foray into modeling, I decided I'd make something both functional and hilarious! I made a fried chicken drumstick and created a background to go with it, just for laughs. Tell me what you think, and I promise my next model will be loads better. This update adds a bump map, making the model twice as sexy. You can get it by clicking the download link above. You need better textures...
True he does, but it's a great model.
You need better textures...
Suggestions? I don't know how to make a great friend chicken texture, so I used Photoshop's pattern maker. It turned out good enough for me, but far from professional. Edit:
True he does, but it's a great model.
Why thank you. I tried hard to get a good shape. :science:
It's texture is kinda fine but it needs a normal map to make it look awesome.
How do I make a normal map?! Nobody has told me how yet, and I can't find a decent tutorial... :( I did make this one image that's mostly blue, but with some purple highlights from one tutorial, but I don't know what to do with it from there.

Wow... that kind of helped... I know bump maps are possible within 3ds max, I just don't know how to apply them correctly. Every time I try, the bump material overwrites the texture.
Download "Crazybump" When you make the bumpmap, be sure to save it as a .tga, and then import it into VTF-Edit. You can then export it as a .vtf, and rename it as "texturename_normal" or "texturename_n" Be sure to add this line, under your "basetexture" line of code in your material file.
"$bumpmap" "models\lolmodels/texturename_normal"
I'm editing the main post if anyone cares to download a new version of my model that adds a bumpmap.
wow, very nice! :D finally we can have more than a burger and fries model! This'll go great with evo-city's kfc!
why does the background seem kinda...racist...o well i guess i'm not one to say
Oh lawd is dat sum racism?
Nice!
Make it so you can see a little bit of bone showing towards the part where you hold it. I mean skin it, not model it.
I don't plan on changing this one anymore, now that it's functional and looks good. But thanks for the compliments! I never thought it would be so easy to make a first model actually look GOOD.
Hey, I was CLOSE! Crazy doesn't go with bumps in my head :(
Actually, I didn't use CrazyBump. I used an Nvidia bumpmap plugin for Photoshop. But thanks anyways.
HEAVY SANDVICH REPLACEMENT NOW.
HEAVY SANDVICH REPLACEMENT NOW.
HELL YES. Too bad I a) don't know how, and b) couldn't make bites come off.
HELL YES. Too bad I a) don't know how, and b) couldn't make bites come off.
Open the sandvich model, see what it uses for attachment points and bite marks, apply to your model, make a model with a bite in it. Place model and stuff in the exact folder as it is in the GFC (IE models/weapons/sandwich.mdl) ??? Profit!

I might try something like that later on.
lol oh sure make it the black guy that loves fried chicken and a watermelon how original
lol oh sure make it the black guy that loves fried chicken and a watermelon how original
What? EVERYONE loves fried chicken and watermelon. Ahahaha.:downs:
Why are people going on that the picture is racist? There's nothing racist about this.
Why are people going on that the picture is racist? There's nothing racist about this.
it's obviously racist because there is a black guy :v:
:O Chicken! I'm gunna make a frozen chicken viewmodel!
We need that as a model replacement for the Sandvich.
You should texture on some bone, it looks weird it's completely covered with chicken.
You should texture on some bone, it looks weird it's completely covered with chicken.
If you go down to KFC, order a bucket of crispy chicken. And then tell me they ALL look weird with no bone. Honestly, I probably would add a bone, but I'm just too lazy at the moment. Also, I wasn't really going for the "caveman drumstick" approach, I wanted a crispy fried chicken drumstick (and that means breaded).
