I had recently reinstalled Steam after my laptop had to be wiped. I've been trying to download new addons (like the Dark Souls addons) from here to Garry's Mod, but the usual path for the addons isn't there anymore. Is it something new with the file placements, or can we not download addons like this anymore?
I'm not sure if that's a "typo," but your username folder is a separate folder in steamapps. It isn't in the common folder. Is everything else there?
To my knowledge, GMod no longer installs to the username folder (much like other Source games after the SteamPipe conversion). If your username folder isn't present in C:\...\Steam\Steamapps, then that simply means that there isn't a game currently installed to that directory.

So I just skipped right into garrysmod/garrysmod and placed my addons there. Edit: If that's the case, then the legacy addons should still work when I drop them in the garrysmod folder and not put them in the addons folder.

I'm not sure what you're doing anymore.

Guess Katra was right when Steam removed the username folder.

Basically the 3 different folders are steamapps/sourcemods steamapps/username steamapps/common

I personally haven't seen anything other than Valve titles use that folder prior to the SteamPipe conversions, so I can't really say whether or not the folder even has any use being there anymore.

As long as other addons work in a similar install path, that's all that matters.
