• Regarding Ripping Models

Hello Facepunch! I am thinking about ripping some models from games. How strenuous is the process to do that? Is there a utility to do it, and does it need to be a certain game? Thanks for your help, MARLWOLF78
Each game has different things you need to rip from it, or you can try 3D Ripper DX (look it up)
OK. I'm sure there is somewhere on the internet where I can find instructions for specific games, right?
Probberly, the more obscure the more difficlt it will be i'd guess, also helps if you know what engine the game your ripping from runs on.
Yeah, knowing the engine helps. Most Unreal engine games have a map editor or something, which you can rip or export the model from more cleanly there. CryEngine 1 and 2 have a map editor and model viewer, so you can rip and export from that. Some games like Valve games and the Grand Theft Auto series have programs to view and extract the models/textures directly from the game's files without using a ripper program.
