• Updated GMOW car models

Hello After recently discovering the "ctrl" button to change views in gmod vehicles, I was inspired to fix all the cars viewpoints and fix the player model (so the driver is seen sitting in the driver seat) I spent a day fixing 8 or so cars then got bored and wondered, what's the point? Does anyone still use these crap cars anyway? So please convince me to finish these off, otherwise I'll have 10 or so updated car models, which I'll release to garrysmod.org as a small update to the larger car mods. Do these come with multiple skins? I remember using ECS in the G9 days and changing skins on a car pack. Don't remember if it was GMOW or not... Also: How do you do the wheels on the vehicles? All my attempts just sink through the ground.
It would be nice to see GMOW reborn again. I have been waiting for that GMOW+ compilation that has been in the works for quite a while, but got too buggy for me to continue following for now. If you could just fix the old GMOW cars into a working condition, that is all I would need. :)
Some of the do, but to change skins you need ent_fire command, which is a cheat, and requires Sv_cheats, so it's not really worth it. Although the Bugatti Veyron has a nice 2nd and 3rd skin, so I might compile separate car models with each one sporting a new skin. Also, who is responsible for the cars falling through props? That never used to happen! What is the point if you can't get your car up the ramp into the trailer? And to answer Lord Ned, the cars are replacement models for the prop_vehicle_jeep, so each model needs to be compiled as a drivable jeep. And to have rotating wheels and turning steering wheel, you have to animate the wheels rotating and the steering wheel moving. Which can be a challenge. Thankfully a good tutorial still exists here http://www.hl2world.com/wiki/index.php/Vehicle_Modeling which I learned from.
Would be nice to have some more cars.

I've properly rigged it, and gotten it in game, however: I can't enter it. It's sinking through the floor. I can't visualize the wheel colisions with ent_bbox like the VDC says.
You can visualize the wheels using "ent_bbox prop_vehicle" in the console if you build a map with your vehicle as a prop_vehicle.
Which is why i'm asking Solid Granite as he's done a variety of vehicles, wheel sizes, etc. Also that tutorial is old as crap, doesn't reflect the new EP2 charger stuff, etc.
Skin stool still works on them I believe. I stopped using them for GMod 10 because of the crappy viewpoints/not sitting properly, I'd love to use them again! :v: Also Ned, that sounds like it is a problem with the prop_vehicle's setup not the model itself. Can you spawn the model separately as a prop_physics?
Finish it off, this will be great.
oh wow this is a small world i see solid granite on the 1NSANE Heat website ^_^ btw will there ever be anther GMOW??
One could only hope...
60% of the Gmow models are really low-poly (Texture wise.)
60% of the Gmow models are really low-poly (Texture wise.)
Hahahahah. Anyway, did they ever fix that bug where the cars would ride like the ground was mega slippery?
Probably caused by a surface-property error. It's easy to fix in the new versions, you just use the Jalopy tire surface properties.
Do it. Do it now. Come on, Do it.
I've been pretty interested in vehicle rigs and models lately, i hope you're doin' it. :D Also, rigged and animated a supra some days ago and i got trouble with steering in a high speed. HALP
wow nice i loved these cars mainly the hummer was my favorite tho the one with first person just with is had bigger tires but ill be happy to just use it again
Hi guys, maybe this is a stupid question but how do you PROPERLY install Gmow? I put it in addons which is the most obvious thing, and the spawn icons appeared but for some reason only some of the cars actually spawn. The others just don't show up. Can you help me?
Well it depends on the version of gmow you got because some versions don't work with gmod anymore but there are versions that do but they are still missing a lot of the cars.
please finish i liked some of the cars ill give you a cookie lol
Yes, please release at least the ones you have finished. I'm sort of OC when it comes to having stuff like this messed up.
Please finish fixing these! Yes people still use them, like me However I mainly use the new rig and old rig also if you recompile the Old Rig or the mack truck or whatever you call it please add a hitch like on the new rig.
so hows this coming along?
I'd really like to see those fixed.
nah i think it's a waste of time i've tried using this pack before it's broken you can't drive any of the cars and some spaz out. i'll stick to Kuno's pack for now.
ok i take back what i sayed the gmow i got the new one works ok again so i would have to say yes please fix cars
Is it done? I can't wait for this to be done!!!
Please do!
Fix it. I'm tired of driving the new rig and being seen on the bottom of the rig. :x
how much long will it take to be finished?
FIX!!!! NOW!! i really need this fix for my vid. ( please do volvo! ) i think gmow would become my favorite vehicle pack if you did. (cuz its got a volvo, buggati, mclaren.. etc)
