Converting a logo to 3D (Photoshop, 3DS max - how?)

Well, the basic layout is this: I need a clan logo converted into 3D. Many people may say 'just use a reference image' - but the logo is quite complicated. I wondered if there was a simple way to import a transparent logo into 3DS max and just applying bevel later on. Is this possible?
Nop, not possible. Especially with a complicated one.
That's stupid. Any other programs that can export the file as .obj then? Some free peace of junk possibly?
Are you saying you have an image and you want to convert it to a model? You have to do that with a reference like you said, theres no auto program (as far as I know) and pretty sure there'll be no exporter (as theres nothing to export as a .obj if theres no verticies).
Hrmf. I expect the feature in 3DS '11.
P.s. - I found this tutorial;
However it requires two costly programs. *Grump*
Just use lines and "mask" it around the edges and then copy, mirror it and bevel.
yeah i would just take the time to trace the shape of one half and then mirror it. it will take awhile but it will get the job done
Applying the texture later may be a problem because of http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=765015
what are you planning to do, have a 3d animated intro of the logo for a game or something?
Sure, why not. Anything really. I have a few 'specific' plans for it, but all in all it's just good having it for whenever it is needed. First things first, I need it on a skyscraper in a city I have already modeled.
