I'm working on a custom facemap of mine, but I've run into a major obstacle:
How would I skin on facial hair onto the facemap?
I get the impression merely using photoshop brushes would be insufficient (not to mention the ones I have for GIMP don't cut it), but does anyone have experience with this?
In short, I need to find out how this is done. Any advice?
Edit: Anyone?
Well, you could try:
Create a new layer.
On the Layer, create noise where you want it to be.
Opacity/Darkness/Contrast settings [here].
Change HUE to match color.
fade the sides of the noise
???
Profit.
It works for me when creating stubble.
Here's a good tutorial that expands a bit on the method explained above:

Radial blur is fantastic for scattering noise to generate natural-looking stubble.
Thanks, guys.
I think it works in GIMP as well, so this is good.
