• Call of Duty Ghosts: Ports and hacks

Hello guys! So the new Call of Duty has just come around, and as usual, while the gameplay has been pretty standard here and there, they've still succeeded in making, what I think, are some great looking models, ripe to be ported and used for SFM and Gmod. To be more specific, I'm talking about the new ODIN Astronaut models featured in the early stages of the game. Being a real sucker for space suits and equipment, when I first saw these new models I was instantly excited, and began to really get stuck in to the game. So, as you'd expect, I've begun this thread to request if anyone could possibly port these new models. I know it isn't impossible, because I've seen A LOT of models ported from Call of Duty in the past, and knew that I was in the right community to request this task after seeing some of the amazing porting talent around here. Below I have provided some screenshots of the Astronauts in question, which bear a resemblance to the SR-71 pilots from the first Black Ops games, which sadly, from my memory, were ported but never rigged. I know what you people are capable of, because like I mentioned previously, I've seen some amazing porting work over the past months (BF3 US and RUS, selection of Black Ops 2 soldiers, various others) and I know that if people are willing to put the effort in, this can become a success. Thanks guys! -Jimmies
Thankyou for your actually decent request thread unlike some people. The models can be extracted from the game, not sure if you know but there are usually two methods of doing this. The first one involves hooking into the game's process and dumping the models straight out of the DXCache (ninjaripper etc) The 2nd method which is by far the cleanest and more ideal involves actually reverse engineering the .ff and .pak image archives which so far I know only 1 person capable of doing this Tom Crowley It will take some time but please be patient. How can you help in this? or anyone else looking for the extraction of Call of Duty models? Tom currently doesn't have the hardware to run call of duty ghosts (since it requires DX11) so he is saving up for a new graphic card you could help by donating. http://tom-crowley.co.uk/donate/
So are you saying he would be able to port the models and possibly rig them? I'm really sorry if I misinterpreted what you said, but I have literal no understanding on how modelling works, or if this Tom Crowley person has any input here on Facepunch or works outside. Thankyou for your input though. I'm looking for as many options as possible right now, mainly because I'm looking for someone else to do it (sorry if that sounds selfish, I just have no grasp on the matter).
Tom Crowley is the developer of a tool called "Lime" which allows us to extract any model from Call of Duty BO1, BO2, MW2 and MW3 with the original rigging intact. He wouldn't port them himself, but he would allow us to do it very easily.
Credit where credit is due, those are some sexy space models. Best of luck to Tom with raising funds for a GPU and these models seeing daylight extra-engine.

Also, since I may as well mention it, did the SR71 pilot from Black Ops ever end up getting rigged? I remember a thread that had multiple models ported and that was included in it, but I lost that thread a while ago. I'll provide a screenshot of him if thats helpful at all. I can't promise you that I will get models out once I get new GPU, but I'm the only person that can get t-pose model out of cod and I see no reason why I will have any problems with ghosts. :) I will also do exporter for the animations in ghost just like I did for: cod2, cod4, cod5, bo1, bo2, mw2, mw3 xD Reason I need the GPU is cus I do the reversing via system memory so I need the game loaded in my systems memory :( Someone has already donated, thank you very much :) Tom.
will you be making an extractor for the pak files (i will donate to the first person to make one on the net)
Yeah I'm sort of working on one
Yeah I'm sort of working on one
how long?
i can get him for you since i just installed BO1 for models, and he was on my list. [editline]9th November 2013[/editline] also hes rigged so i can port him for you <3
Holy shit, really? If you could that would mean the world to me. Let me know how it goes!
how long?
Calm down. Asking "how long?" doesn't help the process move any faster.
how long?
As long as it requires here is a very early release http://dev.cra0kalo.com/?p=35

Lol a friend sent me a memdump of the exe, only looked at it for about 5mins and I can already see the string table system used by the game, so I'll be able to get joint names, texture names etc. easy peasy. And the database looks the same also, so I should be able to do model exporting within a couple of days of getting my GPU :D I will also be doing image extraction for ghosts since a model without textures is rather lame :(

Do want.

i like how the guys that designed the suit thought it was essential to give it quilting

everything in the image files are .dds types files with extensions of .tex so the map load screens are dds files but named like this loadscreen_mp_sovereign.tex [editline]10th November 2013[/editline] well not 100% i just seen map load screens when i dump the call of duty app and thats how there named there

heres the file i found with others https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47087939/loadscreen_mp_dart.tex.dds

Going through like 40-50 image files I've managed to dig out they are headerless DXT blocks.
Which file are you opening?
I try to open all the "imagefileX.pak" to extract the titles and emblems from the game.

I've been wondering - how does your program actually work? From what I can see you're hooking into the game and extracting the currently loaded meshes or something like that correct? Or at least I get the impression from the lime page.
you getting anywhere with the pak dump
