how do i compile transparent materials like glass and plastic?
if you have an alpha channel add $translucent 1 to the vmt.

Well, that's really all there is to it. The brightness of the alpha mask will determine how opaque or transparent the material is once $translucent is added.

Just give it an alpha mask with a solid shade. White means the glass is completely opaque and black means the glass is so transparent that it's basically invisible. Go for a value in between and mess with it until you have what you want.
