So far the models come along good, just smoothed it out a bit, also attempting to get a npc version though its very hard as 3ds max is a pain in the but cause theres so many vertices, faces in the way of the bones, but if i hide the mesh i lose the guide for the bones lol.
also im trying to darken the textures to match those of the actual game, not being super shiny :D

Done the textures, i think this closely resembles the orignal (I suck at getting it right XD), also fixed the size and made it to around alyx's size.

no. or at least when it ripped it didnt. or maybe it was in the dds along with the texture.... hmm... if it did have bump maps, they werent showing.
Hmm the one i used only used two textures, which were visor2, body textures.
Ive made a normal map and will get onto doing a bump map.

Source uses normal maps, and not bump maps.
Besides, they are virtually the same thing, only one is in black and white.

Almost finished just got to fix the boneweights, as they've gone wacky :P
This is not the actual textures, i just toned the ambient and light colours to make it seem cooler and bring the normal maps to attention

I think you may be thinking of hightmaps not bumpmaps (which [i]are[/i] normal maps as far as I've been able to find).
normal mapping? bump mapping? height mapping? arent they all the same since they all give the same results?
Beats me all i know is that when i applied a normal map and bump map on the vmt it gave out the picture above :P
Final thing before release is the Phymodel, i need to rework it for some reason it keeps making it come out random and makes her dance when she/it is spawned
Normal mapping does not really give the same results as bump mapping and a height map is only usefull for creating bumpmaps and it's also used ammong a normalmap to create a paralax shadder (RE:Twilight tech demo).
Official paralax mapping support was also planned by valve, but they never implemented it in any release.
I think they just cancled it.
i thought bump mapping and normal mapping was the same. i have been calling it the same thing for a while now. i must have mis-lead some people... my bad.
whats the difference exactly? normal mapping makes the textures have lighting detail right (bumps of shadow when the light is hitting it at a certain angle)? what does bump mapping do then? does it work like an alpha map? im so confused because in the vmt, you put bumpmap when you wanna use a normal map. is a bump map a black and white version of a normal map? because i have seen some of those

Yes I thought the same and would also be interested to know.
Normal maps are pretty much more complicated, more detailed bump maps. I believe bump maps contain info for one axis, and normal maps for three.
It is still not done, but can be used to some extent, i will re-release it with better constraints when i've finished samus's suits that werent ported and the metroid prime 2 dark samus.
(Which wont take long considering that all the suits i've put as smd but not rigged are roughly the same size)
