• Is it mandatory for models to be in a T-pose?

I've imported a model that didn't come in a t-pose. Trying out the bones in SFM indicate that the model works fine. Is it mandatory for models to be in a t-pose to work, or can they be left in a simple standing pose when being imported?
It doesn't actually matter, it's just that a t-pose makes it way more convenient to rig the model and do other modifications to it.
Alright. I also had an idea to use some mocap animation for SFM. Do they still need to be in a T-pose and already ported to SFM, or can a t-pose be set up in the mocap program?
