I have Maya 2009 Unlimited as well as 3Ds Max 2009.
I plan on creating models for Garry's Mod but I want to first ask, what do you recommend to create models in Garry's Mod. I heard 3Ds Max was more for games and Maya for artists. But I heard Blender is good as well.
Which one is better for creating models in Garry's Mod?

I prefer Max over Maya, at least for starting. I couldn't find much help whatsoever figuring out how to convert maya model files to mdl. Max on the other hand, I got tons of support with it and got it down pretty quickly.
I know maya works just fine in making stuff for the source engine. There is a large deal of documentation for it on the valve developer wiki. Have you also considered using xsi (it's what valve uses).
I personally use blender, and it works perfectly fine too.
