• Model is Metallic, Can't Fix it

I downloaded Absol off the internet, loaded it into 3ds max and was greeted with this: It looks like it's made of metal or something. I've looked around and played with any setting that looked like it might fix it but nothing worked. Google was no help either. If you can't tell, the textures are there, just very washed out and blocked by the metal aura thing. And if it's important at all, the textures are initially transparent, although I know how to fix that much at least. Any ideas on how to make it not-metallic? Thanks in advance
Make sure the normal map is loaded in properly, I've had it happen before where adding the normal map in wrong makes it shiny for some reason
How do I go about doing that? There shouldn't be any normal maps.
Post your VMT if you don't mind.
Post your VMT if you don't mind.
photo in OP is in 3DS Max. OP, my guess is that there's some smoothing errors or half of the polygons are inverted, remove the smoothing and take a photo
photo in OP is in 3DS Max. OP, my guess is that there's some smoothing errors or half of the polygons are inverted, remove the smoothing and take a photo
Removing the smoothing didnt do anything. And yeah, I haven't done any converting yet. This is within 3ds max.
If your normal map has an alpha channel make sure it isn't too bright. Having an alpha value 128 or above makes everything all chrome looking ingame. You could also try adding an edit normals modifier, selecting all the rays under the modifier and unifying them if it's a geometry problem.
