• How can i add a texture to a model?

I know the title isn't really the best of description but my problem is that I want to add a .PNG picture to a model. The model is a chain link fence and I have a .PNG picture of a seamless chain link fence texture with the parts you wouldn't see cut off. But when I add it to the model it gives grey/black parts in the middle of the chain links. How can I fix this? Do you want to port it later to game? or do you want it just to be seen in 3Ds max?

It won't work with other formats btw.
