As you can see, I joined right before 2011 (a few months before) and I never made that mistake because I'm smart enough to go around and see what others do before I even attempted to do anything.

I wasn't sure if you'd rather have a blanket or a rug, so I just made one that works as both. It's a little basic (9 segments), but you can still have a lot of fun with it.

Too bad for me that, fireplace has a long chimney. If I would like to put it in an apartment, a large part of the chimney to protrude beyond the ceiling. Can I somehow cut a piece of the chimney?

The model must be modified to do that. If you'd like, I can remove the chimney for you entirely.

I removed the chimney and flattened the back so it's now an install-anywhere fireplace! =D

You're welcome.
I created the fire in the fireplace by igniting a small prop (tin can) and placing it under the logs. The nocollide tool was used to get it in the right position.
