So I've managed to use TF2's HLMV instead of using third party model viewers. However, this makes it so the $cdmaterials command links to the corresponding folder in the TF2 materials folder, instead of Garry's Mod, which is where I want it to be. For convenience, is there any way to reroute the link to the Garry's Mod materials folder?
Gmod comes with an HLMV, use that one.

I've tried but when I click it it brings a window that says
unable to load manifest file 'scripts/game_sounds_manifest.text'
The reason why I was able to use the TF2 HLMV was because there was a batch file that solved this.
Oh shit, that's right, I forgot about that.
Well then I guess there's no other way, place your materials in the TF2 directory.
Do what I did: make a shortcut directly to the folder so you can drag/drop your materials directly in there without navigating to it every time.
