Hey! I have completely no idea where to post this, so sorry if this is the wrong place :s Well I use sketchup and made a bunch of things with it already and now I want these 3d models into gmod. Like props... Any tutorials how to do it in sketchup and get it in gmod?
there's a good chance that there is no plugin for sketchup to source, however you would have better luck google searching for one
There's a .smd plugin included with Valve's Source SDK toolset. It's buggy as hell(at least for me) and even though sketchup is part of my workflow, I don't recommend using it as your sole program. I pair it with blender (build/texture various components in both programs, assemble in sketchup, export .smd in either, depending on the project) which does certain things sketchup can't. The only reason I'd use sketchup in the first place is ease of use. Other than that, it's got nothing on the various other programs out there.
What if I make a model in sketch up and then export it to blender? Is it possible?
Da. You can use the export COLLADA option in sketchup, import COLLADA in blender. If that doesn't work, get a .obj plugin for sketchup. There's a free one out there. Then Blender, as many here will tell you, has a decent .smd plugin that exports models and animations.
