So, as the title says, I wanted to if anyone has attempted to rip models of AC:AH, yet. It has some nice aircraft models and also the character models/pilots could be ripped. Yes, I could do it myself, but I have the game for Ps3 already and I don't really want to get it for PC just for the sake of ripping some models. So if anyone wanted to rip something of the game anyway. Would be nice if you contacted me :)

Okay, so thanks to ZigZiggyZag here are the 2 models. IMO the textures do look too low res (1024x1024 only) Why Namco... Why?!

I love the CFA-44. I'm sure there are a few people that could make the textures look nicer.

Always liked the Nosferatu design wise. Didn't really like it in game because it fucking dropped outta the sky whenever you stalled.
I might try porting some models today, but no promises.

Hm, I'm wondering... Since I didn't rip those myself, is there maybe a chance the texture settings weren't at high? I played it on Ps3 and I can't recall the textures looking THAT awful.

There are no texture settings. There aren't even any advanced graphics settings. As far as graphical settings are concerned, this is all you get:

No texture quality, no model quality, no lighting, no ambient occlusion, just some basic settings. Hell, the most advanced setting is anti-aliasing. As far as graphics are concerned, high resolution and AA were all they added.
It doesn't make the game unenjoyable, it's just a crappy PC port. As for the textures looking bad, do any textures look better after porting? The textures and all that are optimized for the AH engine, which, like a lot of modern games, pretty much wallows in lighting and shaders.
After playing with those meshes and checking out some game screen caps, I believe that those two models are one of the intermediate lod's for these particular planes.
They also might be scene assets, like - parked planes visible at runways during fly-overs maybe...

The Shinden and Nosferatu are both DLC aircraft, which means they don't actually appear in scenes. The intermediate LoD explanation may be possible though. I'll see if I can rip some myself and see.

May, but I'm not that sure about it. The quality does match the HAWX models (not saying they're equal, but still) and since there landing gear is out, I believe they were either ripped inside the hangar or while take-off.
And those graphoc settings were a joke, like seriously.
Anyway, I think it's possible to use 3D Ripper DX on this one, right? And if you do give the rips a try, could you also try to rip the cockpits?

What you can see here is the model used in cockpit view. I'm surprised the exterior model is almost complete. (cockpit texture is 2048x2048)

Same aircraft, same color scheme.
Looks complete to me. I don't see anything missing except the missiles, but missiles are always missing in hangar view. The cockpit texture is actually different from the outside, it looks like, but that's the only real difference. I think for cockpit view they just have the high-res cockpit model replace the one from the outside.
By the way, are you using 3d ripper? I can't get mine to work for some reason.

After looking closely at your ported model, it seems like some of the cockpit rims are missing, especially those in the back.
Yea, the canopy, engine nozzles and brakes are missing, but I merged it with the exterior model and it fits just fine.
And yes, I'm using 3D Ripper. It works just fine for me. And you have to rip the models in the mission, when you rip them from the hangar, the textures look weird.
Well shit. I tried to use 3DRipper, but the game wouldn't load. I'm using ninjaripper right now, but I have no fucking clue how to change the uv coords.

I've got a .3dr of the Apache in color 2 (grey with black shark's mouth) that I ripped for sentrygunman. I'll post it as soon as I get the import plugins to work in my copy of 3ds max.

Import works, but I think I'll need to tweak some settings before I actually port other stuff. I'll look into some options.

I'd wait 'til you got all the planes you want and then release them all in one big pack.
Well, in the import menu for the .3dr I have all options unchecked except for the first one (remove stripped or degenerated faces or something) and it turns out well.

Nope. Still same problem. The rear part doesn't show up. Perhaps I could try porting it from a cutscene in which the cockpit is visible.

Nevermind, Sentrygunman figured out the problem.
Could you maybe try to rip the AC-130 interior in the beginning of the AC-130 mission? I seem to miss 2 textures. For the seats and some other parts, it gives me a container texture and for the interior in the back (floor, 25mm gtaling, etc) just a black 128x128 one :S

I am trying to get the alternate textures (other colors such as #2 etc...) and it doesn't matter whether I do it from ingame or from the hanger or even aircraft display but the textures come out but not the way that I see them ingame. I am using 3d ripper dx and I am not sure what is going on.
Really? When I rip them during a mission they come out fine for me.
Tomcatters here is an example. This is supposed to be Su-25TM Color #2 but I get this texture instead:

It is missing the colors almost like it is black and white mode.
Edit: It seems to rip the textures now for the aircraft properly I went into 3D RipperDX and disabled Shader Model 3.0 and also forced windowed mode. I am now having a problem trying to capture the Ka-50 Color #1 as it comes out like this:
