Cannot compile models - Studiomdl.exe won't connect to steam, then nothing on steam launch
8 replies, posted
I'm trying to compile a model and when I compile using source sdk's studiomdl, i get this error :
SteamStartup() failed: Steamstartup(0xf, 0x0018f170) failed with error 1: failed to take master pipe connection lock
Then if I try to launch anything else on steam after I get this error, nothing on steam can connect unless I restart my computer.
Steam is running when I try to compile
I've tried restarting steam
I've tried restarting my computer
I've re-installed Steam
I've also deleted both ep1 & orangebox studiomdl.exe's and it made no difference when steam re-downloaded them.
Is it because I'm on windows 7 64bit? I've tried running in compatibility mode and as administrator but nothing worked.
try compiling it with gui studio mdl
It still uses studiomdl I imagine, but will give it a shot.

Tried it, same thing basically.
SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x0018FB3C) failed with error 1: failed to take master pipe connection lock
A slightly different error.

I love how now I cannot contribute to the tf2 contribution page.
Bumping again because it didn't make a difference, Even reinstalled source sdk
Third bump
fourth bump
Delete your ClientRegistry.blob in your Steam folder, it works for me.
Tried it, didn't work.
Wow, you have it bad. I thought i had it bad, my Garry's Mod sometimes freezes making me go to Task Mana. and ending the hl2.exe process, then that happens. I rely on restarting steam by ending Steam.exe, did you try that?
