hello so Im trying to make an undertale player model. The character is sans so I finish doing the skeleton part of the model and I go to do the weight paint and it wont allow me to do it please help :( heres a pic link that shows the error

That error shows when you don't have any vertex group selected.
In order to select which bone you're weight painting, you need to go into that triangle with the 3 dots tab at the right. That's the vertex group panel.
On the left you should also be in the tools tab at the top like this:
