**Update: The hexed pack is now released. You can find them here I started to pick up on the whole hexing business because it's something that seemed simple enough yet I never bothered with it for the years that I've been here. Turns out it was easier than I thought and so I've decided to make a pack of WWII Marines in the Pacific theater. Hexed of course. Due to limitations on the model and Wile E. Coyote's .psd of all his skin textures/templates that he gave to me a few years back, I'm trying to make these as accurate as possible given the resources at hand. There's a few model alterations that I would like done to give the full Marine effect (such as rolled up sleeves or untucked pants, improved hands etc.) but I can't model or hack worth shit. So if anyone thinks they want to help me in THAT regard, feel free to PM me. Anyway, here are some of the variations I have so far. More to come of course. The skin on the right of each image is the non-hexed, DoD:S replacement. The ones on the left are the hexed variation. I think that would be a lot more practical than hexing a dozen different models for each skin variation.
Winner'd!
Updating the camo pattern colors. Making it less yellow and more khaki like.
So, now that I'm starting to gear towards a release, I'm going to be releasing a generic squad sized pack (13 Marines). Each one attempting to look relatively different as far as skinning goes at least. To start I have hexed together all NCO's within the squad: **The veteran squad leader is a bonus really
Wow Those skins are Really looking great. My Only suggestion would be to put a Faceposable Head on them. Seeing as the DOD Guys are Pretty Much Blank Faces with textures.
Nice  Any change to get officer with Ack Ack likenes from the Pacific? and the usmc emblem to his helmet?
They sure look good! The first helmet como is also grate. I suggest to keep it too for bodychange varriation:P

That'll come at some point in the distant future though.
Wow Those skins are Really looking great. My Only suggestion would be to put a Faceposable Head on them. It would definitely be something I'd like to consider though...I have a few heads that I think would make a fine addition to each body. Hey, thanks so far people. I'll be posting previews of the rest of the squadmates next!

It would be wonderful to see some DOD:S americans without the "buttpack". Or a NCO with acual M1 Carbine pouches.
Great job man, they look beautiful. Someone finally gets the concept that a squad can't be made up of 5 guys, with the same face and ranks. Good job, Jim. Maybe throw that on them?
the marines never used patches on field uniforms
Right, good thing they never parachuted, that'd be a bitch.
Looks sick!!

I'm working on more updates soon for squadmates. Little issues are popping up with the skins that have been causing some slight setbacks so stay frosty if you're interested! [editline]3rd November 2011[/editline] All right so here's two more squadmates, both part of fireteam 1. All fireteams will be made up of one NCO, two riflemen, BAR gunner or one rifleman, one grenadier, BAR gunner. Although I'll probably just make the grenadier a rifleman instead because it's only four men per fireteam and that's counting the NCO. As you can see I need to work out a few bugs or tweaks. Some edits here and there should make them complete.
Since each model has it's own skin, you should really try to vary the clothing more by changing the dirtiness and shade of the clothing and such. While you did swap the face textures, the unique dirt pattern on the clothes is still giving them the clone look. I know you prefer the dods models, but you should use the WaW models.

What's most important right now is just making a typical Marine and releasing a pack so I can make additions later. I can make a v2 for more detail some other time.
Bumping because I've made some more progress. I'm down to I think two or three more Marines and then I can put the pack together, make it easy enough to install and then go ahead and release. It'll be a v1 release, meaning I'll probably update them in time with more details and ideas from myself and from you guys. In the mean time, here are the rest of the BAR gunners and two riflemen:
Are the physics going to be the same as the regular DoD:S guys?
Yes, I'll be releasing them with the same improved physics I've had on me for the last few years.
All right, I've finished all squadmates. They are being uploaded as I make this post so keep an eye out in the next hour or two. It's a v1 release so there are bound to be improvements eventually. Here are all fireteams and both Sergeants in the pack for a total of 14 models, hexed and using improved physics that I've had for a long while now. I'm aware that there has recently been an upload of another kind of physics improvement, if you don't like the one in this pack feel free to change it to whatever suits your need.
