Hey guys and gals, wondering if you could help, I have just finished editing a new skin for Ellis from L4D2 as a Infected Survivor, but I made all the right moves to change the skin but in game the Ellis model has his normal skin, any tips, info? Here's what I'm working with:
VTFEdit & Photoshop

1. Looove the concept and skin so far.
2. When I reskin and go.. "Outside the real skin".. Like, in the background, the skin will return to the old one. Maybe this is the problem?

1. Thanks very much.
2. What? Didn't get any of that.
In Gmod or L4D2? L4D2 requires a bit of finagling for custom shit to work.

If you do anything outside the real parts to reskin? Get it? The black background, you know.. If I f.ex. write on it the model will be the same as before reskinning.

Texturing outside the areas of the UV Coordinates (aka the parts that you see) has no effect on how any game receives the texture. It doesn't have an active scanner to make sure there's nothing outside of the UV Coordinates, because that would just be stupid.
You're probably messing up something else that causes it to fail to read the modified texture.
Having been doing texturing and skinning for 6 years, I assure you that this is the case.
Did you do a pak01_dir edit for testing purposes or load it into an addon VPK? If you did the VPK, post your addoninfo.txt
