You may want to merge them before exporting; select the objects and press CTRL+J.

I just attempted this too and have the same issue, but if I merge the bones will just move the entire object it seems, and not the specific parts for when i had seperate objects if you get what I mean.

I [I]think[/I] I get what you mean, it sounds like you parented the whole objects to the bones, is that right? You should try weight painting your objects before merging them.
I have each part of a weapon as seperate objects (slide, trigger, grip) and I rig a bone to each part using ctrl + p (with auto weights). I then try merging.
