Hey guys, I bought a 3d printer in the summer and its come in.. but I dont have anything "posed" to print on it.
Maybe some of you guys that do alot of posing in gmod, or what not. could you know maybe capture the scene using 3dripperDX and send it my way. :D
I haven't had anything good to print yet, what I have printed were tests. And they kind of got messed up. seems I need support material to build overhanging objects

I hate you so bad. I want a 3d printer, but can never get the money together for it. plus I have to justify purchases that big with the bf, and "because it's cool" doesn't count as a valid excuse.
What kinds "posed things" are you looking for?
I can get you just about any model you want. Not posed though because that's still something I'm trying to learn. But I see with that 3D Print you had some degenerate faces and holes. And yes any overhangs you need to add in support. Did you run it through the Netfabb Basic or the Netfabb Cloud before bringing it into your 3D printing software? The Netfabb cloud is really only good for fixing shells and inverted faces, but the Netfabb Basic is good for fixing the degenerate faces and holes.
I'll love you if you printed [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/1QIcA[/img_thumb]
I got it in .obj if you want it.
Holy shit mario, that's neat as hell, though how much did a thing like that set you back?

500$-2000$
Out of curiosity - I heard 3 printers are kinda meh as far as floating geometry models are concerned. How does your perform on non-uniform ones?
i want a 3d printer so bad so i can pose shit in gmod and have all my waifus without setting me back thousands of dollars
you should do it too mario
I have a M1 Abrams Tank that is mine, it would be awesome to see printed
the cheapest place I could find was solidoodle, for 499, but I paid extra for the heat bed. which brought me round 600$$ including a reel of plastic.
of course its not the greatest method for printing 3D objects. but for a decent printing unit, your looking at the 2000$$ price mark.
Theres a few technologies out there that are pretty cool. the one that looked the most promising uses like powder and the powder is layered on, acting as your support material. then the model is constructed from these layers off powder. or theres laser printers that somehow solidify a liquid..
Anyway the one I bought uses extrusion, blueprints are open source. if you google REPRAP you'll find do it your self instructions.. but unfortunately you need someone with a printer to print the complex parts needed to construct the framework of the reprap. there are people on ebay that offer such a service.. but there are soo many different versions of REPRAP floating around. its overwhelming to know what to buy :(
edit
oh yeah heres the rest of tifa, the stupid printer software doesnt warn you if your model exceeds the machine limits. I had to print her in to halves, but she tipped over and off the arm went >_<

Make us whole, Issac...
But yeah 3d printing is pretty cool. I wish I had one, we had a high quality one at my college but I dun graduated and now that I have the time to figure out how to use it, I don't have access.
If I ever become rich, I am investing in the best 3d printer money can buy.
I know most non-uniform models come out horrible on most of these hobby printers. Also support material with a figure is a must. Mario, what's your bed space?
150mm on all axises..
ah sweet nice stuff dude! also bought one recently :D

he he..i'm helping a friend who wants to obtain some hot big bobs figures from his solidoodle.
did u take a look at the old cg-site.net? (jap artist site) there are some nice models already posed or mmd stuffs? Actually i had to download the trial of sonicomi, cuz he is obsessed to have a supersonico model..lol
EDIT: site is cg-site.net/old if i remember well ...even if 3d-arts is maybe even better..but the webgl format is not so popular on xentax ,you know.
Thats awesome mariokart! i really want to get me one of these so i can print presents and stuff for ppl i know! :D and make a 3d character collection or something like a hobby involving one of these!
