I use Cannonfodder's (I don't care if its spelled wrong) decompiler to decompile models, so I can edit them in my modelling program (Milkshape 3D, I can't afford others, sadly) But, some models crash the decompiler. All TF2 models, and some HL2 models crash it. It just says it can't decompile the model, then it closes.
Another question - Animations...?
When I decompile the model, how do I get the animations? If any of you use Milkshape 3D (Which none of you probably do) how do I get them in? It is the .qc file right? I'm not an animator, so I wouldn't know, but how do I get them into an editable format? Thanks for your help, I'm just a beginner modeller.
um, ok, let me guess, this is a stupid question?
Team Fortress 2 models are a different format. You can change them by opening them in a hex editor and changing the value of the 5th byte from 0x30 to 0x2C
The animations may be stored in external model files.
