I have probably said it a million times already but damn it this needs to be popular. I have decided to make a whole thread dedicated to getting models from the known Transformers games, not just one character request and have it be pushed to the side and forgotten. (ie. The Megatron thread like two months ago). So now if anyone has something to work on Transformers related, it goes here instead of a separate request thread. That way, everything can be found here.
In case anyone wants to know, I found this video containing models/files from the game for those who don't have the game or have trouble getting them. (most of the models have missing parts, I don't think everything's there)

-snip didn't read thread-
the textures is low res because .jpg format and no specular :(
yes you have said ~transformers ports~ millions of times
file formats are
c4d[del](idk if its rigged probably not.)[/del]
obj
no ones gonna [del]rig[/del] port these.
The only thing that isn't rigged is the obj files. There was a tool that could transfer objs to 3DS Max, but after using it once I think the final result from that isn't worth it. I guess that means we can leave the videos out of the equation(knew that was coming anyway, most of the models like brawl were missing a few parts).
So now the only thing I can think of is *gasp*: getting them rigged from the game itself instead of random download torrents or Youtube videos that seem to go nowhere.
I modified an existing transformer's model to make an Optimus Prime Player model.
Would that be something to go into this thread?

A picture for a sense of scaling, and a picture to show the player model in use.

That would do as well my friend. Never actually knew ANYONE was going to pull that off. Once screenshot showed that it might need a little bit of work. Other than that, pretty interesting.
Bump, wanted to keep this thred going while putting up a video on in-game models from the Dotm tie-in game in case anyone had any ideas. Same thing as last video; c4d and obj files are in the description.
Second bump to keep this alive if possible.
(Since I'm no longer banned (I got banned due to the fact that I fell into a trap that "accidentally" made me duplicate a post by "accident" and thus cause me to get banned temporary so I got confused before the ban) I get to post again. So I apologize for that accident)
Anyways, even though the chances might be slim for Grimlock, I hope we get his dino form soon (or later). And further more, I would like to re-enact the "My time will come, Megatron" scene in the first episode of G1 (using FOC models of Starscream and Megatron (And Soundwave, too) in SFM once the models are ported.
Anyone porting models from this game?:

We don't really have that much G1 models at our disposal right now, why not work on them despite the game being horrible?

EDITED: Can see picture now.
[del]I can't see what the image is right now, but I'm guessing it's either that Japanese Transformers PS2 game with terrible dialogue and bad gameplay http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers_(PS2) or the awesome Transformers game based off the Armada television series http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers_(PS2)[/del]?
I have little clue on how getting models from those games possible, but it would be worth a shot to try it out to see how it turns out. There's something about them though that it could turn out in terrible quality in the end result since the Japanese one was pretty awfully made.

I would love some Armada models! :D
Heard awesome things about the PS2 Armada game. So I wouldn't mind them (yes I saw the Armada designs at tfw2005.com), even though I haven't seen the show but screencaps of the show and commercials of the toys
I think in order to get things cleared, anyone know how to pull up the Wfc/FoC models from the game files or know where the files are so I can find them? I've been trying Umodel to get them viewed, but can't seem to find them and I get an error basically saying "We can't find what your looking for". Anyone know the location of the model, weapon props, meshes, vehicle forms, and ships like the Nemesis and the Ark?
Yeah they're usually in the files that have BASE in the filename and they stand out as having much larger file size usually. I haven't had problems finding anything with Umodel i can get anything you want... though i don't think the ships (ark) are actual models that can be ripped. Typically though the models are not in just one location... several of the BASE files have repeats so there is no one specific place you have to look...

I just offered a guy $100 usd to port the G1 Optimus Prime model from Fall of Cybertron. He said he'd "look into it" and that he'd do it for free.... i'm not very optimistic it will actually happen.

I think from what I know around here, you DON'T offer any money to anything that can be done for free (plus I think it's a copyright thing to offer money to take away models that aren't made for you). Save that money for when you want someone to MAKE models, not for PORTING them.
Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."
it dosen't feel right to make money from other people hard work in other words that's why he will do it for free.

i just saw it as tossing a guy a few bucks for his time & effort in doing the port.
really desperate to get these models into SFM and don't have the time to learn myself atm.
it is okay if you didn't know that.
and i'm sure somebody will port the models my friend.
i just saw it as tossing a guy a few bucks for his time & effort in doing the port.

How about trying that method you did in getting some of the DOTM props? That seemed to work okay. Didn't you try pulling out the Decepticon elite mooks/grunts and Megatron in his new form from that game as well? Would like to see you try that again if possible.
that's the thing though... they were just simple static props that i did with WallWorm model tools which makes the process very easy. But if you recall, everyone criticized that i did not have "normal maps" in the textures and several other serious problems with the models.
I'm too much of a silly noob to even attempt doing complex ragdolls right now.

That's true, I remember those comments back then...*sigh*
Then again, DOTM is a movie tie-in game. In most cases the quality for those kind of games are pretty much low and shoddy most of the time due to time constraints(Dotm had 10 months to be made while the "Cybertron" games were made within 1 1/2-2 years with tons of QA coming form Activision)
Dotm Megatron was NEVER going to look better in Gmod/SFM than he did in that game no matter what tricks I/we did(The infamous "chain texture") to the point that even the little things made to the model might not matter much anymore. It's really hard to really look at the issue IMHO unless you were like a critic of some sort writing down all the little issues with the model. Don't blame the porters, blame the developers time spent with the game.
Does anyone have Optimus Prime's truck mode from the DOTM game? I'm thinking of turning it into a drivable vehicle so I can have Optimus Prime driving Optimus Prime for the laughs.

Yeah it's in the prop pack i did:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1q8gmi42wh48opq
keep in mind, the texture materials are incomplete and it's just a static prop with no rigged bones or body groups or anything. but if you can do something with it... more power to ya!

In case anyone wants to know, we have a Steam group dedicated to making this possible. We may be short on members and experience, but we try our best until it's all done. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/transformersforgarrysmod
Call me crazy, but I think I read somewhere that there was an extraction program that worked by getting models from the game while you were playing the game. I swear I saw something like somewhere in one of the recent Dark Souls threads. I don't know for sure if such a program exists, if it even works in Unreal Engine games, or even if it is that easy.
@psientist- For the BASE file name, does that include and/or mean the files that have XXX in the file name as well?
EDIT: Nevermind, found a bunch of files with BASE in their name, I'm guessing that's what you mean. I can't seem to remember how to open them up using Umodel though.
Bump. Wanted to let you know that I got a batch file along with umodel.exe extracted to my CookedPC files. I tried to extract all but it doesn't seem to work. I clicked on the batch file, but a window pops up for half a second and disappears. Am I doing something wrong?

Check gildor's site if the game uses a "-game=" tag and add that tag to the batch file right after "umodel".

I checked. It is completely compatible with the game as stated by Gildor, but I did not find a "-game=" tag on the forums.
*sigh* I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
1. I have the umodel.exe extracted to the CookedPC folder where the big stuff should be.
2. I have tired multiple commands for trying to extract the files I'm looking for, but can't get them working(I might not be doing the right files and/or commands to extract for getting models and props)
3. The batch file that I got doesn't seem to work as well (Again, maybe missing a step. Maybe copy/paste method is not working for for me IDK)
I'm so frustrated that I can't get this working for me.
I should just make a darn checklist and let someone else handle it. :suicide:
EDIT: I should make this clear: I'm not giving up on this. I'm just really frustrated that I can't get umodel to work for me. I think there should be a separate tutorial for Fall of Cybertron and umodel, just because the game is completely different than the other Unreal games.
Edit2: As of now through the 16th of September on Steam, War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron are 25% off(WfC-$15;FoC-$45). If you don't have the games currently to try this out, now's your chance to get them at an amazing deal.
