• Can I use Gimp instead of photoshop for skinning?

I was wondering if it is possible to substitute Photoshop with Gimp for making skins. Is it possible?
Yes. You could even us mspaint, though with a risk of being shot.
Ok thanks. Also why would I get shot? Do you mean trolled? [editline]04:58AM[/editline] Also, I have a problem. I cannot seem to find a VTF plugin for Gimp and without this it will not let me open skins.

Then save as tga and save as vtf in vtfedit.

That decreases the quality a lot though.

However you can change the options to be uncompressed and the output to be fucking huge. But why do you need 20 mb texture if it also can be 1.336 mb.
Converting it into a .bmp with VTFedit works, and doesn't lose any quality. I found this out when I was making a pack of brightly coloured "fail-skins" with my friend. They look professional. EDIT: [img_thumb]http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3175/shovel1.png[/img_thumb] Pretty good, right?

Nice job, man. Looks awesome. Not quite as good as my amazing TF2 reskins but it'll do. *ahem* :D

The spy, I'm sorry, but that sucks. It looks nothing like metal, never mind gold.
[QUOTE=~ZOMG;22682759]The spy, I'm sorry, but that sucks. It looks nothing like metal, never mind gold.[/QUOTE] Jeesh, did you read that it's his first skin? Yes, it's far from perfect, and far from original, but give the guy a break while he's learning.

And I swear ever time you post you're a fucking Nazi about everything. Go make a map for TF2 that Valve will buy off you and make the 10th class if you're that amazing.
