• Port custom CS:S models to Left 4 Dead?

I want to know if there is a way to port a model made for Counter strike Source to Left 4 Dead or Left 4 dead 2. Is it possible? And if it is, how?
I think that can be easily done by extracting the model files from CS: S's counter-strike source shared.gcf from the "models" folder and then their textures, textures used can easily be found using this Hex Editor. If you extracted some non-.dx90 files feel free to delete them and then making ".VTX" out of the .dx90's (copying the files and renaming them)
Yeah but the V_ models work differently.
Then don't bother trying to get the viewmodels... unless you plan a "Variety Survivor" pack, but the viewmodels and playermodels would require decompiling and re-rigging in case you'd want to use them in newer versions of Source like Portal 2
Yes, I've done it for two separate releases. Let me tell you though: decompiling the rig you need for L4D rarely works out well, so I've been using arby26's example compile. I'd recommend starting there. http://www.gamebanana.com/gamefiles/2239 As to how it's done, I use StudioCompiler for the compiling and 3DS Max for the hacking, though any good 3D modeling program should do just as well. As far as I know, hacking is necessary because you need to rig your guns to the L4D torso, not just the arms as in CSS.
