Let me start off apologizing for my initial post in the wrong section : http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1060736-Front-mission-evolved-pack?p=28109729#post28109729 Hence my topic creation in this forum. Quoting myself from above post :
I hope some one can help me out here. I am a avid paper modeler (creating buildable paper models) from games. I mostly do models of mechs / walkers etc. Recently I saw a paper model released by Square Enix as part of a competition. Unfortunately they only released the one paper model. I have since tried and tried to get hold of the game models by making use of 3D Ripper but had little luck. Then I saw this topic. I have downloaded the model pack but I have no clue what to do with it. I really only need the model in OBJ format so that I can import it and start working on making paper models. If any one can convert it for me, or show me how to I would be so great full. Thanks for any help. Oh yes. Some of the models I have made (who knows, maybe get some more people to make and build paper models) can be seen here : http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170752 http://www.mechwarrior3.org/wforum/v...72ffdd7f5483cd http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthre...ghlight=riesig http://www.mechwarrior3.org/wforum/viewtopic.php?t=4912
You need to use mdldecompiler which will turn the models into an SMD. Converting that to an OBJ is relatively simple after that.
Thank you for the reply. I have downloaded the Source SDK along with Cannon Fodder's MDL compiler. After browsing to the folder where the MDL files are located in, and I click on the extract button from within the mdldecompiler I get the message "error loading model" Any ideas ? Thanks [editline]26th September 2011[/editline] Oky, slowly getting there. Using NEM's object viewer I am able to see and export the model as OBJ. I found vpk tools to convert / extract the texture. From there I import into Milkshape and apply the textures to the body parts ........... Seem to work oky , a bit of work but I am getting there. If any one knows how to set the textures within Nem's Object viewer it will help alot since I only get the grey untextured view of the model.
