This thread gives you many tips and tricks for mapping. These are the tips which I use to make my maps. 1. Hammer is a really good map editor, but its not ideal for smooth contours and other aspects, so I use Blender to make the actual map 2. Export to Sketchup to split some Faces up so they can be textured differently. 3. Export to Hammer to do texturing and placing with what you do and this and that and sky box and water and, and... These are just a few tips to start you. You post your tips, and questions here and they will be answered.
we have the mappers encyclopedia, the question thread and various other threads for a reason, this isn't needed.
