as much as I enjoy fullbright. Would it kill you to add some lights?
I will add them in a later version.
I will add them in a later version.
Great, can you also not use the elevator texture with strange texture alignment as a building texture? I got a boatload of suggestions here. Like, not stretch out the terrain texture to such ridiculous lengths. I realize you're optimizing it for IGPs, but my Matrox S200 can run this, and thats only 8MB. Just kidding about the S200, that thing can bearly run Goldsource. But seriously... a little detail wouldn't kill.
Ok I could use some suggestions. I did work fast on the textures by the way to release a higher fps roleplaying map on my server.
Ok I could use some suggestions. Interlopers - Optimization. This handy guide will help you through understanding and implementing these optimization techniques. 5] Try adjusting the scale of your buildings a bit better, so they dont look so tall and look as interesting as Nebraska.
Are the textures meant to be streched?
No not really I was in a hurry at doing them I will work on fixing them up for one of the next releases.

It takes too long to custom scale each texture. I can get rid of texture lock though. I use fit or treat as one in some cases. I believe the textures are looking so stretched because of the size of the walls.
Textures tile...

You can reapply the texture by going into the texture browser, and right clicking on the face. The textures are stretched because you made the brush small, then you scaled it. Please spend a little bit more time on your project.
- FullBright. - Textures stretched to hell. - Pics don't work properly can barely see whats going on. - No detail? Like. At all. And honestly. When I read the first post it feels like im reading a post from a troll.

If I could make something like that in 30 minutes I would be releasing a lot more at once.
And why you have auto prop deletion everywhere?
Auto prop deletion is there because it is built mainly for roleplay it deletes props under the map and trying to go through the map walls. Keeping the fps up and server more stable.
So you optimized your map for potato, but potatoes can't even run source.

Not wanting to sound aggressive or anything here, but all I see is green smudges, low res boxes and no layout. Even If you wanted to make a "High performance" map, you could at least have tried to have a coherent map. Hell, I would play a roleplay map with HL1 level of quality, as long as everything is the same quality. So please, draw a layout on a sheet of paper before mapping, and ask yourself "Do that look real?", or "Could I see that in a real town?". Again, don't take that as insults, i'm just saying that it isn't good by any mean.

Bad Reading x 1 (list) I never saw a cinema without seats, or a Police department with huge letters in the front. And the list go on. Seriously, how this : [t]http://files.gamebanana.com/img/ss/maps/530dcf7e83554.jpg[/t] Is anywhere close to something like this: [t]http://www.town.ashland.va.us/images/pages/N228/Police%20Station.jpg[/t] I'm sorry, but nothing you can say will change my point of view, your map is not good looking, not great gameplay wise, and most importantly in a rp map, not somewhat realistic.
It is a free map just enjoy it.
that is version 1.1. I would like to see your maps that look visually like real life bet you do not got one.
It does not take long to make a map look even semi-decent. And it does not have to look realistic, experiment with a few different art styles and go with the one you prefer. And before you say anything. 'Fullbright misaligned mess' is not an art style, it is being lazy. Take these that I have made for example 'Derelict station' Took about 1.5 days [T]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/598155687102743297/DB6FC15FEC7D56F7F1C0DDF43AB66153648DC215/[/T] 'Future Underground Prison' Took about 2-3 days. Most of that time was spent tweaking custom textures. [T]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/491187787924739973/E82AE13D1CB2CF6BF6337589E86756831CFFE871/[/T] 'Flat Coloured Arena' Took 2 weeks. Most of that time was spent creating the animated clouds for the skybox [T]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/612772818326870316/BC62C47661B258C794D065881303D06D1EB44DD1/[/T] These are just a few examples of what you can make. Nothing has be realistic, it just needs to be coherent. And by the way, I have made maps on an old $300 laptop before with no issue other than a longer compile time and slightly laggy view windows. 'My computer is shit' is no excuse unless you are running on a literal potato. I'm sure that plenty of other mappers here can show you a wide veriety of art styles you can try from their previous works.
that is version 1.1. I would like to see your maps that look visually like real life bet you do not got one. See that sign Police in the picture you are showing. I don't think that is realistic why is that even there? Do not troll me go troll someone else if you want. A map to look realistic as real life yeah buy me the $500,000 cray and a new map editor so I got a good simulation super computer. Than you can sit around 15+ years not knowing it will be released.
You lose all credibility when you use the word troll in your post. If you want I can point out all the flaw from your image: -Rock texture for walls, and very bad quality. I'd say you clicked "Fit" in justify. -Absolutely no details on the wall, the very definition of "blocky". -Stretched cliff and floor textures. -No roads. Also, you don't need a powerful pc to make a map, And I don't need to have a released map to criticize.
There is optimizing and then there is this. Optimism isn't making everything stretchy, deleting props and loosing detail. It's about making the make faster while still keeping a good level of detail. Being free is not a excuse, there are plenty of other rp_ maps out there which are of great quality. So here are some suggestions: - Fix up your textures; they look terrible over distance and honestly doesn't improve performance that much. - Add some roads and fences and a little more detail between building "A" and "B". - Do not have a land just sitting around; if it's not being used for role play then remove it, this map isn't for sandbox servers. - Make a Police sign texture or just don't have one. The giant "P D" on the front of the Police Department is not making any sense. You can make a basic on in Paint.NET or try making a more advance one in Gimp. Making textures are not that hard for source. (I'm not sure about GoldSrc) Or go browsing for one at cgtexures You could also nicely ask someone to make one for you. I'm sorry if this came out rude or harsh, it is just my opinion. Please learn from this and continue mapping. It's a great thing to map and I don't think you should just quit from one bad map.
It needs a few businesses than I will start detailing it up.
This is the best. map. ever. *The amount of sarcasm in this post exceeds the bounds*
I don't like how you wrote "30 minutes to make" It takes over 2 hours to select each individual wall and custom fit them...
Sounds like you're still new to mapping. If it takes you 2 hours to set textures like THAT per each wall, Im afraid I don't believe you.
What you just said is cinemas, police departments, garages, under ground tunnels, apartments and more do not exist in real life is that right?
Im afraid this map really sidesteps reality. You don't see cities in such a layout as this. This isnt boston where your highways are purely underground, and this isn't on the styles of Cappadocia.
It is a free map just enjoy it.
I tried, I cant. All maps are free. I think you're acting defensively, and quite arrogantly too. I understand we all have an ego and some sort of pride to push, especially when it comes down to our work. But you have to understand this community is trying to help you. And yet you're sidestepping their criticism by saying your map is great as it is. So be it, you might've tried your best at making the map, and for a first attempt, you did... okay? In all reality, its a very poor release. So implement some of the criticism and rebuild/redesign your map. Level design is not some simple job that everyone can do, just like any skill it takes time to develop and to refine it. Sitting there and rating people "dumb" is making you look like a poor sport.
It is a free map just enjoy it.
Explain how a paid map works...
I'm going to be blunt here but no one will want to use this map instead of downtown or c_18 its both boring and an eye sore, practice mapping (alot) before you release something. also your narcissistic tendencies are showing
Ok seriously what the hell is that supposed to be. Is this a joke? Are you trolling or are you serious? This map looks absolutely awful. No design, no realism, poor execution, no lighting, bad texturing etc. Why the hell would you need prop removers under the map. If you can get under the map you need to fix it so you can't. You shouldn't need prop removers period unless it serves an RP function.
