I've seen quite a few topics lately, and they have one thing in common. Size.
I thought it was time for a fun challenge. Dirty things.
In this challenge, you will make something dirty. Things like sewers, gory field battles, disgusting environments (Silent Hill ect) and so on. It's quite a broad subject, so lots of things to make.
[b]RULES:[/b]
- Size doesn't matter.
- Any Source based game. Day of Defeat SOURCE, CS SOURCE, Hl2, Ep2, L4D. As long as it's Source based.
- It doesn't matter if it's DM, Story, TDM. As long as it's disgusting, or very messy/dirty.
- It doesn't matter if it's out, or inside. Abstract, or realistic.
- It doesn't matter if it's fucked up. That counts as messy. There are Boundaries though...
- You may make custom content. Like textures, models or particles.
All it has to be is filthy, discusting, "Yukky", dirty, messy ect.
[b]DEADLINE[/b]
2 Months. It's long. Make something good.
- You will have to post screens of the progress of your map.
- You will give me a link personally, so I can vertify the map.
- Then we start voting (in public).

This is actually a good idea, making stuff look dirty is actually harder than making it look clean.
I bet in this challenge someone will make a big toilet.

It would look like shit in HL2, probably. It could be pulled off in HL1, but I doubt HL2.
I might do something if I can get an idea.
Game restriction? All source games?

Otherwise a good competition but I think the subject may be a bit [b]too[/b] broad.
I might participate in this one. How will we submit the maps? Some specific amount of screenshots?

Well you know what he means, I don't see why people bother nitpicking it, he basically mean you can get anything that costs no more than $10

Nitpicking...? I'm here in the Netherlands, and we Pay in Euros. If you live in the US, it goes in dollars.
If not, I'll pay in Euros.

Gonna attempt a sewer DM/CSS map.
I might give this a try, 2 months is alot of time!

First I'll build the map and then I'll start making it dirty and messy.
I used smoothing groups on that thingy on the left but it doesn't seem to work too well. Guess I'll figure something out to fix it.
This is very WIP, mind you. It's lit by some light entities I put there to avoid getting fullbright screenshots.

Smoothing groups in Hammer only apply to lightmaps.
