Hey everyone, I'm starting a new project that will be a zombie Apocalypse type map.
So far I have drawn out a half-city half-outlandish map. A large elevated highway connects the two, There will be a large main downtown strip of road, but my question is, what else would you guys like to see in a map like this?
On a side note, whats the best way to optimize a map with lots of open space?

I would like to see some places where survivors attempted to barricade themselves in, or wait it out. Inside you can find their starved or eaten corpses.

It would also be cool to see some clues around the map that you can use to follow stories of previous survivors.

Oh, and how 'bout a supermarket?
Jerry-rigged barricades and shit. Make it look dirty, destroyed, like L4D. That'll be awesome.
And yes, shops, preferably ones you can get inside of.
Oh, and maybe a makeshift bridge between two building, that crosses high over the road.
What i did when i was playing about with some zombie apocalypse style campaign things, is have a built up city, with trees, grass everywhere etc. with cars piling up everywhere - so it looked they'd all been trying to escape the city.
It looked cool. Shame i don't still have the .vmf :(

Make EVERYTHING nodraw to start with, then go down to eye level, and look around to see all the faces that are visible.
