Here is Rp_Avellinia My first attempt at a Rp map it will take me about 1-3 months to finish here is a picture of spawn Spawn-3% Roads-0% Stores-0% Police Station-1% (the gate is to police station) Hospital-0% Train Station-0% Hobo Alley-0% Club/bar-0% If you have ideas of what i should add Go ahead and post them
It seems like you haven't prep'd the map layout. And seeing that there is nothing really done, it doesn't qualify much as a WIP yet, let alone a beta like you say it is.
Well I'm working on the map, am I not?, so its a work in progress, and about the layout i have a drawing of it in pencil with me how i layed it out
Get more content before making a thread next time. This isn't enough.
Anything else?, besides some player_starts, a blocky gate, and some horrific texturing?
it will take me about 1-3 months to finish
Make a thread in a few months then, this is barely enough for the WIP thread.
Well I'm working on the map, am I not?, so its a work in progress
So show it off here instead: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=806078 That is, after you have enough to compile and take a sceenshot.
Wall texture looks awful, how about some custom urban textures ?
So...pre-alpha...lovely. The gate is misaligned, and the concrete is terrible. Of course you can't comment much on a hammer image.
This is why i said It will take me 1-3 months i will re-do textures once i get some good ones, and there misaligned because the top part is not going to move only the bottom.
Grass displacements please.
Grass displacements please.
Also custom skybox
Picture isn't working.
lol He is rating everybody dumb. and yea you need more than a total of what? 4% done before you can make a thread about it.
My suggestion, stop mapping this. A decent RP map isn't at all easy, you should have huge understanding of hammer and how the source engine works before attempting such a task. Some tips: - Make practice maps and practice the things you suck at or mess about with entities you've never used before, etc. - Learn to hold-back on posting until what you have to show us is in a decent state. - Listen to criticism you get when you do post. - Crit your own work, it's very easy to look at something you make and go "That is awesome" but think, would other people find it awesome? Can you see any problems, visual glitches or things that don't quite fit in? If so, fix them before showing. - Compare your work to other people's maps. We aren't asking for stunning high-quality "valve standard" mapping but we do expect a certain level of polish. - Don't map for release, map for yourself. I haven't released a single map (well, nothing I'm proud of anyway) and I'm fine with that because I learned a ton from the hundreds of practice maps I've done and because of that the feedback I do get on the maps I showcase is generally good. - Take your time. If you don't feel like mapping, don't map (this obviously doesn't work if you're working to a deadline or something). Generally people who map in short bursts when they're in a creative mood produce better quality in that sitting than people who map to release as quick as possible.
lol He is rating everybody dumb. and yea you need more than a total of what? 4% done before you can make a thread about it.
No, there's 8 parts of 100% each, so assuming they all take equal time, the whole map is only half of one percent complete.
I meant out of 800% lol
The brush work is terrible from what I can see. Pre-alpha or not.
