So, I have this odd problem with my Hammer program. When I start a new map, place an object and and enter it's 'Flags' tab, all is well. But then I compile the map, test run it, then get back into Hammer (without closing it down), and go into the 'Flags' tab again. Then, for a moment, it shows a selection box where the flags would be, and then Hammer simply closes down. No error given, nothing, I can just start it up again, and then the tab works fine.
On re-start up, it does state that "Hammer was not closed down correctly, would you like to load the last version of <map name>.vmt?"
Anyone have the same issue, or know how to fix it?
P.S.
Re-installing does nothing.
Running the game engine while hammer is open can often cause crashes and bugs to occur, the best bet is simply to close hammer before you test a map, then re-open it again should you have issues.
I've had this problem on some graphics cards and system configurations but not on others, so I suppose it's more luck of the draw.
Don't worry about it too much though - your level is automatically saved on every compile so you shouldn't need to worry about map corruption or save issues.
Happens to me too.
I lost like half of my map... cause i didn't run the map for a while I HATE THIS BUG

It's called autosave
I used to have autosave set to every 2 mins because of various crashes. In fact, when i went to saving every 2 mins, hammer stopped crashing.
This used to happen to me, it stopped when I reformatted my laptop.
I usually save every time i make a new entity or brush. Its kind of a obsession. But it has not failed me yet.
