I have been making a map in hammer for a little bit now but I have a issue.
When I try to make a button I can't make it the correct size because it locks to the grid I had it disabled once before but I don't know how I disabled it so that would be what I am asking.
So please tell me how to disable lock to grid I looked for an option but no luck.

You will always want to snap to grid. Avoid making brushes that are 6.9 or 50.3. You can lower the grid size by using the [ and ] buttons on your keyboard.

So by taking and making the grid smaller I can make blocks smaller?
edit- I just tried and I still can't get the desired size I want so I really need to know how to turn off grid lock just for a second
Edit2- Nvm I found a solution just holding ALT works.
Sorry for being a noob.
Shouldn't make shit off the grid, bad practice, like ironphoenix said, pressing the [ and ] keys reduces and increases the grid size, respectively, all the way down to 1 unit. Which is small enough. So even though you've said sorry for being a noob, technically you're still being one.

I use transform tool if i need to get stuff "offgrid".
It allows me to move/scale the object to exact location/size i want it to.

Try using models instead.

I could and that is a great idea.
I'll look into using button models.

It's generally better to have it on grid. If you absolutely have to go off grid, then don't.
Just change the "certain spot" so the button can be on grid.
Butons should be about 32 units off the floor anyway.
