Unable to use Orange Box games in Source SDK (HL2 EP2, Portal, TF2)

Never mind. The problem is fixed now.
Apparently, purchasing the Orange Box did NOT fix Hammer for me. I have all three games fully installed and updated and I have finished Portal and Half-Life 2 Episode 2. I have also played quite a good bit of Team Fortress 2.
Unfortunately, not only does Hammer continue to not work (Like crashing when I try to drag a box to make a brush, for example), but...

What the fuck? Where's Episode 2? Where's Portal? AND WHERE THE BLOODY HELL IS TEAM FORTRESS 2?! :argh:

No, these are not my only games.
The rest of them are minimized, under Installed.

Does anyone here know of a way to fix this? I've done a number of things to make it work, such as:
-Searching the Source SDK Release Notes
-Refreshing SDK Content
-And even REINSTALLING
If there is a fix out there, or if I'm not the only one with this particular issue, then please reply.

Hmm, that's strange. My smartness appears to have dropped quite considerably for absolutely no reason...
Odd... You should be getting the update that enables them...
Is there any launch parameters for the Source SDK? (Right Click, Properties, Set Launch Options)

Nope, none.
However, I did try using the -Engine Ep1 command (Which failed miserably) before getting the Orange Box, though I doubt it's affecting anything now because I removed it long ago.

it is affecting it now! it is only working for the EP1 engine games!
delete the sdk files, redownload/reinstall.
Did you play the games yet? If not, their configurations might not be available. Just start them up, get to the main menu, and quit. That should do it.

I was just about to post how to fix it
The same thing happened to me yesterday
but it just happened again. If I fix it this time, I'll post what I did.

Okay..
When hammer started, Hl2: Episode 2 as the game, I went to Tools > Options. Make sure the config is set to Half Life 2: Episode 2 and not another game. Click okay. Go to File > New and make a blank map.
So the same thing as before, checking the config. Press okay when the windows comes up. Now try to put down a brush.
Make sure you have Source SDK checked for updates in the launch options.

Yep, it is and always has been.
I had this problem, deleting the Source SDK folders under ../Steam/Steamapps/Yourusername/ fixed it for me.

Both Source SDK Content and Source SDK?
Edit:
Just deleted them and launched Source SDK. It's working! I can't believe it's actually working now! Thanks!

Thanks for your post. I gave up on hammer and episode2 until I read your post. I followed your information and now I am able to use hammer and episode2 for the first time. Wow I am very happy with you and your post.
You might have heard of me. My map that is always on line in beta form: is named, Hollywad. I never seem to get it done. Thanks for your post and a gold star for you.
I had a similar problem to this- I refreshed all of content and configurations and that seemed to do the trick. However a major side effect of that is now I only see the Orange Box games offered in the SDK, and I can't access the original Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike or Episode One. The create a mod feature also states that it doesn't work with any of the Orange Box games. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Run Source SDK with the "-engine ep1" launch switch?
To use the Source SDK with pre-orange box games, you must use a command line switch to do this
1. Right click on Source SDK in the Tools tab of Steam
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click the "Set Launch Options"
4. Type this: -engine ep1
5. Click "Ok"
6. Click "Close"

Ah, thanks. I seem to have gotten it working now. Anything I should look out for when using this switch? I'm going to assume the obvious issues(that I won't be able to use certain textures, sounds, models, etc.).
Yup. Only pre-Orange Box items will be available.
Has there been any announcements over when Valve will release the a new SDK update that will allow the create a mod to work with the Orange box games?
Haven't heard anything on that topic.
You can either modify Half-Life 2 Single Player, Half-Life 2 Multiplayer, Start a mod from scratch or utilize the Source Code only.
I also had the problem not being able to map for Hl2DM,Hl2,CSS and EP1.
Thanks.
Just use -engine ep2 or -engine ep1 to switch between the episode 1 engine and the episode 2 engine SDKs.
Source SDK defaults to the new engine. Remove the "-engine ep1" launch switch to use the latest SDK.
TTamH can you post what did you did to make it work because I have the same problem.
