• Would it be possible to make a L4D (HL2 style) campaign

There's this really bad movie that I watched once which is set Would it be possible tn the future after a zombie apocalypse. The basic storyline is the main character(s) are living in this small, stand alone community surrounded by acres of zombies. There are various locations dotted all over the place and a few other settlements. Basically, I want to try and make a L4D campaign based on that idea. It would be a large map (possibly a few) with a few settlements dotted over the place and you can leave them and fight through to another one to another one and restock on ammo/medkits and shit. I'm not really sure on the finer details so forgive me if this is hard to understand. The general story would be there is a place where the zombies are coming from (maybe a place where people are infected or the zombies are being manufactured or something) and you have to get there, killing fuck loads of zombies in the process, and maybe blow up the source or plant explosives and run or release an antidote into the water supply - whatever. The aim of it would be to make it replayable because the zombies would be free to wonder and would spawn randomly. The reason I'm considering doing it in L4D is because it's much better at handling large amounts of NPC's and I suspect HL2 would struggle greatly. I would prefer to do it HL2 or GMod because I would be able to use NPC's in the settlements and I don't even know if it's possible to get NPC's into L4D. I'm just throwing shit out there. Any criticism, complaints, or general "optimistic" comments are welcome. If anyone has any suggestions to how it would be achieved in HL2 or GMod, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for reading. TL;DR want to make an RP kind of campaign in L4D, and I'm not sure if it's possible.
If you want to make this multiplayer, then you cannot make this in HL2 due to the large amount of NPCs you require. Reading your story, I suggest making it fully in L4D, and finding some way to work around the NPCs required for the story bits. (Maybe old journal recordings you can find, and listen too.)
Is there perhaps a way in which I could make NPCs that barely lag? Maybe some make them LUA based and have a sprite or something over that, that plays animations. It would look crappy, but something along those lines (if possible) wouldn't lag.
What movie was it? It sounds a lot like Fido.
I really can't remember the name of the movie, but there was this badass zombie in a jump suit that worked out how to use a gun :smug:

That sounds familiar. Maybe. [editline]06:46PM[/editline] I'm not sure. I can't see anything from the trailer, but it looks pretty good, so I doubt it.
I think if NPC's lag you too much its time to upgrade.
I think if NPC's lag you too much its time to upgrade.
If there's hundreds of NPC's and it lags, I need to upgrade? Please read the thread thoroughly before posting.
The movie you are thinking of is Land of the Dead.
