hey guys whats going on!
here to update you about my Castle map.
i present to you, The Castle
I'm going to apologize right now for the foreground of the castle, i know no one likes the black and purple
checkers, but this is a true WIP and i didnt include EVERY detail that this castle has to offer, which allot of it is still wip and i dont want to show all of it off just yet.

This castle im making here is based off the Rochester Keep in England

do note that this is not the exact replication of this castle. since most of the real castle is not intact so some parts are going to be exaggerated.
things that need to be done.
****optimization <--- cause just what i have crashes Garry's mod, some vertex buffer overflow
lighting
texture's
skybox
walls
outside world ex "stable, house's, farms, church, few and various medevil shops ect.
so what do you guys think of it?
Are those swords brush based?
Haha Yes they are. eventually i want to replace them with real sword models and sheilds. but right now i have to think small or im going to overwhelm myself
I thought it might've been a map of the house from "The Castle" (1997).
Pro tip, use propper to turn those brush based swords to props :)

They're place holders.
He's getting models for them when he's ready.

It's pretty good, but it's slightly blocky in places.
The texturing is also good, but it needs a bit of work in some places, such as the archway in pic 4.

ha-ha yes i know this. and it will be done. like i said... there place holders for now.
im almost done with the inside, then im going to work on the surrounding environment.
im prolly gonna use Blender for making the Shields and Swords.
any one know of a tut's that can help me with porting in the models?

haha, i haven't thought of a good name for this yet, unfortunate now.
Looks like a good start. Once the outside is finished it will make it look alot better.
I hope you used func_detail.

Are you being sarcastic? Just because he's new doesn't mean he cant spell or be constructive.
You could make it into a pirates, vikings, knights 2 map.

Yes Func_detail and area portals are my best freinds right now! now would it make sense to no draw unseen textures? like if i put 2 walls together, and i no-draw the one end that is conjoined into the wall?
stay tuned i plan to update some pics later today on the outside world. the castle is almost done.
have i thought of mapping a few maps for Pvk2? no.
the direction i want to go with this towards- RP/ medevil - Free play. but i suppose that if they would want my help i wouldn't mind it.
i mean my god have you seen some of this new stuff?

I took your notion and improved my lighting, i agree the yellow lighting was quite bad.
now I'm having some problems.
Apparently i ran into having too many detailed props with Grass Textures. :(
it seem like every 5 mins or so Garry's mod crashes telling me to up the vertex buffer size?
ill run a new pic up here within the next day here. still quite busy on it
