Hello everyone!
Well, I finish school in a few weeks and after I finish I want to start a project on making a new map and I have been briefing down ideas for the past few days and I have slowly come to the conclusion on a few things. ;D
Firstly, it is going to be (as the title says) a de_train style map, it is going to be medium/large in scale and it is going to have a huge difference that will make it stand out rather than the typical CS:S maps.
I have gone for a new approach in this map as I think this will make it unique and also have very good game play, and I just want to see what you guys think of it.
I have gone for a sort of 'de_nuke' outline but instead of the bombsites being on top of each other they are going to be side by side (not directly linked). This will obviously cause the bombsites to be around the main battle area but there will be several choke points to cut down camping, and the map also has long/short places to make it even for snipers.
I have made a brief 'mock-up' of my map on paint but I was thinking of some ideas that you guys could give me.
Thanks

That idea is already somewhat taken, since de_train is one of the original CS:S maps. de_train is essentialy a trainyard, so I don't exactly see the point. You could make different themed map with the same layout, though.
That is a decent level plan, though. Plus, de_train isn't the best map ever, so it would be good to see someone develop a remake with good gameplay.
You might want to have some actual content before you post a thread. Or else the forum will be spammed with 'just ideas threads' instead of actual maps.
Also, do not sign your posts, it's retarded. You're not writing a letter, we can see your username right next to the post already.
I never think an idea should get shot down before content has been created.
My suggestion (from looking at your sketch) tells me that the map is fundamentally flawed (gameplaywise)
A good way to look at a cs:s map is to have 3 "arenas" where its possible that fighting could go down. Then break down the three arenas into positions. For instance, arena 1 may be as simple as a hallway. On the left wall, you have a box to hide behind (that box being position 1) and then you have a closet on the right where you could camp (position 2) and a pile of tires or something in one of the corners (position 3).
The key is to make your map not only look good, but to have players come back to it. Dynamics are the key.
So good luck with your map ;)
