$selfillum and UnlitGeneric not making texture glow
4 replies, posted
I've gotten many textures to glow so far, but for some reason, one prop just won't glow.
I've done everything! I've checked the alpha channel, I've remade the texture, I've recompiled the prop, I've used UnlitGeneric.
Nothing seems to work. The UnlitGeneric not working makes me think it's less to do with the VTF and VMT file and more to do with the compiling or hammer prop settings.
Any suggestions on what might be the culprit?
Have you tried modifying the lights.rad file? I had to add the texture to that to get one of mine to glow properly. Granted that was for a static brush
It depends on what you mean by glow. I assume you want it to emit light, in that case, like wazanator has stated, you'd want to edit your lights.rad file.
Post the vmt.
Sorry for late response. I got it to work, but I don't have no idea why that happened. My guess is the VTF properties (inside VTFedit there's some default marked checkboxes and whatnot).
I'll post the info from the files again if it reoccurs (though I remember checking the VMT like 20 times to make sure it was correct).
