Not able to place brushes

When using the selection tool and trying to make a brush, all it does is move your view (dragging the view.) Well, the same thing happens with the create brush button. I can't create brushes now because of this. Help!

If space doesn't work, restart the pc. Restarting hammer or steam doesn't work.

if you hit enter, then your brush turns solid then use the pointer tool to move/resize it after that.

Heh, ACC's post was good for a laugh. But the real reason I'm posting is to ask exactly why Valve even put this option in Hammer. I mean, what possible reason could somone have for wanting to hit a button that made all tools just move the views? I could understand just switching to the movement tool (I think there is a separate shortcut for that) and then switching to whatever tool you chose next when you clicked on it, but this just seems rather pointless and annoying. This happened to me a while back but I don't believe I made a help topic about it because I kept hitting random buttons (luckily I had assumed correctly) until I fixed it, but it scared the shit out of me when even restarting Steam didn't work.
