My second workshop map, called gm_flatgrass_multiterrain_daynight. Based off of the old standard gm_flatgrass for Garry's Mod. You are now able to customize the map whilst in-game. You can select from 8 different terrains (grass, snow, sand, dirt, wasteland, dried grass, mud & black dirt). You can also select from 4 different times (dawn, day, dusk , night). Awesome map, but the name seems a tad long.
Thanks! And yeah its a bit too long :b
It's not long enough.
How did you do the day/night system without cheap CC? All of the lighting mods I've seen for gmod just change the skybox and artificially darken the map, while leaving static props brightly lit. Is it part of the new engine branch?

He probably just named his light_environment so he can change its brightness with inputs. Basically this system doesn't look good on more complicated maps.

The only downside of this system is that it leaves very dark shadows on the sides of brushes that aren't in the way of the direction of the light coming from the skybox, so tall buildings would be very dark on two sides, and lit normally on the other two (which doesn't look good).
I think its possible to name the light_environment by turning smart edit off.
Yeah, thats what I did : ) but there is no input to change brightness, as in, changing it from say 500 to 800, you can't do that
Yeah, thats what I did : ) but there is no input to change brightness, as in, changing it from say 500 to 800, you can't do that
Right, it's prebaked.
Right, it's prebaked.
Yez
Yez
Well apart from shamelessly bumping your own thread you are also incorrect when it comes to brightness. You can change brightness with the SetPattern input.

My bad, I didnt know that. I always thought SetPattern changed the intensity of the brightness, not changes it .. ^^
Wow, amazing.
