• Tunnel Problems (Help)

Alright so I've been creating a map for the past couple of days and am running into a problem. I can't seem to get the Tunnel Corner to work. I've tried for hours messing with the vertices and still can't get it right. Any Suggestions? Note: I also need to curve the pipe. Here are screens of what I am attempting to accomplish: Thanks, -VIOLATION
1. dont sign your posts, we can see who you are. 2. try clipping a torus.
2. try clipping a torus.
I haven't done much with toruses, but don't they have to have some space in the middle and retain a donut shape? The way his tunnels meet would require the placement of a torus with no gap in the center.
Torus' haven't helped. What I need is basically a quarter of a dome. How I can accomplish this I don't know. Here are refrence shots of what I am trying to do: http://www.haloforever.com/images/maps/rats%20nest/halo_3_rats_nest_map_2.jpg (far left + center) http://i.ytimg.com/vi/Y5YKRgx4qDo/0.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/gotkaya/Halo/ratsnest.jpg Please help if you can. Thanks.
The Torus technique seems to work pretty well for me. http://i.imgur.com/1BYQX.png
I Shit That's hurt my head, I can't work out any way to do this. Try displacements, subdividing might help.
The Torus technique seems to work pretty well for me. http://i.imgur.com/1BYQX.png
Please tell me how you did that. All the settings please.
1: Create one big torus like this: http://i.imgur.com/nT65j.png http://i.imgur.com/A6H6e.png 2: Clip away everything but the top corner piece: http://i.imgur.com/YjSwP.png http://i.imgur.com/52mvC.png 3: Remember to not make it too detailed, otherwise VVIS will give you pain. (Use Smoothing Groups)
As long as the outside is the void (which would be the reason for it not being func_detail in the first place) it wouldn't cause much issue with vis. Concave shapes don't cut up vis so for each section you would only get 1 leaf. Not a problem.
Violation, I think I remember seeing you on ECG/SNG servers. It's the only place I play TTT, glad to see another SNG member here. :) But to answer your question, the torus tool can definitely be used to fit your needs, in a much more simplistic manner than Stinger21 suggested. No clipping required. I used these settings: To achieve this: Drag the creation tool in your hammer grid to the dimensions you need that corner dome to be, press enter and use those settings. The only thing that might be different in those settings is the cross section radius, obviously because I don't know the dimensions for your corner. After it's created, just re-scale/drag it to the proper dimensions once again. It's just not the done thing...
It's just not the done thing...
For the curved pipe, this tutorial should help. Making the pipe corner a displacement rather than a brush can make things much easier. As far as the outside wall goes, it should be pretty straightforward by using the arch tool.
