Just a map I'm working on,kind of a fy snow remake though in a more dusty enviroment and a bit more open than the original.

Sorry for talking in the clip where i'm showing my map,but i was making an announcement video for my channel :3
Btw here are some screenshots of the Map
http://steamcommunity.com/id/markosrbija321/screenshots/
Hope you like the map,and leave some feedback :)
First of, in my opinion screenshots are a lot better if you want to show off a map.
Secondly, your map is quite blocky. Now, certain maps like cs_italy are not pretty, and they're not supposed to be pretty, because it's so gameplay oriented, but from a mappers perspective, you need to start working with curves. Do remember to func_detail them though.
The map itself is a bit plain. Try to add more detail to it.
Personally I find the lighting to be a bit boring, but I suppose that's just a matter of opinion.
Good luck :)
Edit-
Just noticed you have a link to steam screenshots, but try to implement some of those screenshots into the OP. I recommend using the [T]img[/T] tags
And at 0:18 you walk under this bar, and it is tiny. In real life that would collapse really easily. Try to avoid these kinds of things.
As doom said...it is really plain. And also, all your maps look the same, and seem to take no time at all for you to make. Ever considered breaking away from sand and dust?
Seems kinda weird that your lighting is directly horizontal.
Those stairs are higher than an average person's knees. Don't be lazy, throw in a couple more.
Standard outdoor stairs are supposed to be 8x12
those are clearly much bigger
To be honest. It's empty, blocky, has awful lightning, no window/doorframes, no cubemaps, ugly pool, bad skybox, no light sources and has an unrealistic layout.
Are you going for a standard-quality custom-made cs map, or will you put some more effort into it?
Not trying to be mean. This is just what I see it as since I think there's too many maps like it.
I listed some of the not-so-good things I saw, so now you know what I reacted to that needs more thought put into it.
If you lack in Ideas on how to make it better feel free to PM me the file, and I'll fix it up.
Well I've read all of your comments,so I started with the editing.
Here's what I've done so far:
[T]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578956687640208376/C731D249902515C15536C9D5BDC6525DDD775382/[/T] [T]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578956687640190931/86AB476F68F95110935435ED0D42BF5B9F963F08/[/T] [T]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578956687640196547/E5B88D2F5C4C461A7244845E72337F469E45F291/[/T]
The last one is missing a lot of props and detail,I think I'll make a small market or like two houses next to eachother.
Also i've changed the light direction, the light colour and the skybox
That's quite an improvement.
There's still work to do, though.
I think the arches would look much better if they had a few more sides. Possibly even frames.

The spawn has been re designed, not looking so boring now,a lot of props have changed colors to give it some variety :)
That actually looks quite nice now. It still needs more props, and the rooftops are all the same level, try adding some variety.

I'm thinking about adding ladders so you can actually climb up the roof but that could make/break the balance, and it would be a pain in the *** to actually model and make the outside less visible.Though I am really thinking about adding props up there and making that a combat area aswell.

I take it you're new to mapping, and modeling the outside would require you to make a 3D skybox, which isn't something you should go about messing with if you are new, unless the theme of your map matches the 3D skybox models that have already been created. I would wait though.

No that's not what i meant,i know how to make a 3d skybox and what not,but i'd prefer to have it look like a town so I would model the buildings, the 3dskybox could be added later behind all of that, but I'd like it all to be near the players, when they shoot at it,bullet holes and particles would come out, that doesn't happen on a 3D skybox.

Which is why you can build a town outside the playable area, then add a 3d skybox around that.

Yeah, make it a building or two thick, then throw in the 3D skybox. Otherwise that shit will take a long time to compile.

I tried with making players able to go up,but there was a lot of things that had to be changed and that's what i disliked, people could find a way out of the map and a playerclip would make the map ugly and restricted,I like people having the freedom of movement but in this map I just couldn't restrict it that much.
So add fences or some other form of barrier.

Those are good qualities, although not for a small map like this. I doubt this will be fun with more than 6-8 players, and this looks like to be a pretty good map for just that. Your ideas are way ahead of this map. My advice? Throw in a 3D skybox if you'd like, finish it up, and move on. The ideas you have a fit for a much larger map, which will come in handy in the future, but they simply don't fit what you have here.
What you just suggested is something you need to design very early on. This map looks as if it's close to being done, and adding more levels is a huge game changer. Honestly, I think it would make the map imbalanced. I suggest finishing this one up, release it on Gamebanana or what not, and move on to a larger map with several levels. I think that'll fit you just right :)
Or he could just...
Make the map bigger.
Or he could just...

Nah,as Doom said it would be a complete game changer, and could make the map imbalanced
It won't necessarily become unbalanced. Just add more small areas where needed.
[editline]21st May 2012[/editline]
You could add an underground layer, those are pretty easy to balance out.
Or he could just...

I've learned for experience that changing the playstyle of a map when you're that far into it is VERY risky. In this case I'm very sure that it would ruin the map. Best thing it just to lay out an entire map in dev textures, test it with bots, make changes so everything is balanced, detail it and then release. By doing so you ensure that the map you've created is good, provided that you've balanced it properly in the first place ^^

Those are things you add before you reach this level of detail. Easier and faster to just finish this one up and make the next one better imo.
As doom said...it is really plain. And also, all your maps look the same, and seem to take no time at all for you to make. Ever considered breaking away from sand and dust?
There'd be nothing wrong with the style of the maps if they were really good. However, like everyone said, they are not.

de_italy is ugly as fuck, yet it's still a good map.

If done right, playerclips don't have to be restrictive. Fences, locked gates, barricades, crashed vehicles. Be creative. It will make your map feel bigger than it is, and retain the realism of the environment.

Pardon - That's the GO version, I'm talking about the CS:S
Pardon - That's the GO version, I'm talking about the CS:S
The CS:S one is (relatively) pretty for what was available at the time. The architecture and colors are nice. If anything, de_port is ugly, but it's functional.
