Stramic's map was one of the highlights of the build community, however a few months ago stramic went under, so We decided to release the map to the public. The map Features a wide open water area engulfing the center spawn which contains 5 floating platforms bridged together, and a single floating platform off to the side with a button. This platform teleports you to the sky area, hundreds of feet above the ground, equipped with a landing pad hanging below it, and a mimicked 5 floating platform setup. directly below the floating platform is a Dark Room with a glass floor that can be seen only from the inside. The water only covers half the map however, the other half is a giant open flatgrass area also containing an overhang/building up against the edge of the map. This has two ramps going up to the top of it, useful for garage's smaller vehicles, darker area, etc. Stramic Build is a useful map for covering all 3 forms of build. Land, Air, and Sea. The wide open grass allows for enough room to roam with friends, or build alone off in the distance. Stramic however, is returning soon, and we feel that we want to continue updating this map. Essentially after every new update to our server, the previous map will be released. Once again, I did not create this map, My partner TopHat Man created it for our old community. 80% credit goes to him (20% for me hosting it and ideas :3) I hope you guys enjoy! Feel free to leave comments and suggestions for future version. Him and I, Like I said, Will continue to update it.
Looks neat, gonna use it for Neuro planes :v:
Looks pretty nice.
Like it. Like it alot. At least it's an imaginitive construction map.
Does anyone have suggestions? I'm interested in improving this further.
Does anyone have suggestions? I'm interested in improving this further.
If you made it, then you release it. Not him.
He did release it. I just threw it on facepunch because he didn't, and I wanted to pull more publicity to it.
I meant make the thread for it too.
Might use this to test my ekranoplan =)
pwetty skybox :v: gonna download and test this
It looks pretty well done. I tried one of these maps a while ago. Never released it though.
I think Its an excellent building map. At least a bit more original than those flatgrass "remakes". Rated artistic.
Welcome to Map Review. From now on, this account will review mapping releases on Facepunch exclusively, no matter the mapper's skill, the map's use, significance or the amount of time and skill put in to it. This is an experiment, if you have any suggestions, or a map has been skipped since this account was created, please do send a private message, otherwise focus on the map in the original post instead of bringing attention to this account. Comments Construct maps have separate qualities and disadvantages, it is a completely different system from most maps in that the visuals are typically below-par while utility is key. This one in particular is a good example of that. The visuals are decent at best, but the function exceeds many construct maps in the space it gave, and the variety in working areas. Even then, it used a unique sky for a better sense of style than most construct maps. There were plenty of routes this map could have taken to be more unique, however they probably didn't come to mind. Improvement and expansion to the water can be made, such as an underground cave system or trench. Criticism Though it provided useful features and had decent texturing, there were a few confusing areas; a valuable purpose could not be found. Some things seemed rather useless, such as the platform beneath the largest floating platform. The water had an okay depth, however the displacements below it were less than impressive. Set the power of those displacements up and it would have been fine. The ground-zero building seemed to serve little purpose as well.
Get a load of this guy
What he gives a good overview of what the map will be like.
His reviews are shallow though :C They're only good for nit-picky errors and pointers on how to fix the errors, which a fair amount of people could do. One thing I enjoyed about this map is the lighting. It's not too bright (gm_construct, gm_construct*), too gloomy (gm_flatgrass), nor just in a dark time of day (gm_wireconstruct_rc). It's the right time of day IMO.

I prefer reviewing stuff myself - but enjoy reading reviews anyway.
Does anyone have suggestions? If you could make that as slim as the other platforms in the group, then it'd be perfect.
